what's not to like about Shaved Snow??
Only Shaved Snow I could find in Vic. The Woman owner was an absolute joy to talk with.
The shaved snow is currently takeout only, so she can only do so much, but the flavour is all there. She only uses real fresh fruit. It's sweet, melty and so yummy. Some shaved snow flavours are also interactive and different, so unfortunately you'll have to wait for some of the in-house flavours to return when Covid protocols are lightened.
She makes the redbean paste by hand and everything is done fresh. Definitely grab a Honey Cinnamon Taiyaki becuase that's a really rare flavour that other snowy villages don't offer. She is also very careful with the Taiyaki dough and perfected it to make sure it is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside but also doesn't leak any filling.
The shop is small, like most shaved snow shops, the intent is usually to buy and eat elsewhere, I have no idea why people are upset by this, this has nothing to do with the quality of the food or the service. It's simply a small space which is traditional of shaved...
Read moreI highly recommend this place- the presentation is great, the service is lovely, and the taste is not to sweet, but just right for my taste buds. I had the Injeolmi flavored dessert (first photo), with the rice cakes. So delicious! Unfortunately the lovely desserts take time to make, and orders were coming in so quick before closing that the worker (working solo) had to stop orders an hour before closing. Take out orders were ringing, and a line up was forming, all just before that final hour. It also didn't help that we were a group of 5, and we wanted each a dessert, and some sort of Taiyaki (dessert pastry with various typws of filling).
The worker stayed calm and continued to work to fill orders. Thankfully us customers were patiently waiting for our desserts. It was worth the wait.
Definitely going to give another try on another day to see if wait times...
Read moreI see people complaining about the tiny space. Well, that's the reality in Victoria. You don't go into a place and leave immediately because of the space. You don't go into a dessert cafe and expect to see a restaurant size seating. To me, It is manageable cozy space. The store in Richmond is also tiny, maybe slightly bigger than Victoria store. I can't comment on other people's customer service experience but my experience yesterday was good. Friendly staff, waited patiently while we tried to decide what to order. Then they asked "dine in or take out?" and I asked dine in.. He, looks like the owner, said they don't have tables big enough to fit us all. (There were 3 tables occupied already). I said it's fine, we can manage 2 adults and 3 children at the bar table. AND we did. We enjoyed our mango bingsoo. Will definitely return on a...
