So sad to have to say that I cannot get food here anymore, I've had their shawarmas here before and liked them, probably an 8 out of 10 (I've had lots of shawarmas from many, many different places over the past 20 years spent in Toronto), but ordered two shawarmas this evening, cost for those two shawarmas was $28.00! And with a $2.50 tip, it was over $30.00 of course.
I was Ok with that, as I wanted to have something different than the usual, so I'm not pointing out the price because I was not willing to pay that much, I am pointing out the amount of money because there was nothing in the wrap.
Sure there was sauce, sure there was a bit of veggies (I mean a bit), but there was virtually no chicken in my chicken shawarma... it was all pita wrap (or whatever the wrap is). I brought the second shawarma to my wife at home and she said the same thing, that there was nothing in the wrap.
We'd had the shawarmas here before and we both liked them, so she was as surprised as I was.
As I was mentioning, I've had a lot of shawarmas in Toronto for at least only 3/4 of the price, but all were loaded with chicken and veggies, well packed, almost difficult to finish in one sitting. I also find it hard to believe that restaurants in Toronto get their product ingredients at a much lower price. I buy one shawarma in Toronto and it feels like I'm carrying away a dumbell, the one shawarma is much heavier than these two shawarmas were combined.
Rents here surely can't be anywhere near as expensive as in Toronto, and I do realize that a business here is not going to be anywhere near as busy as one in Toronto, but at the end of the day, if we as customers pay good money and don't get anything for it, then we're just going to have to go purchase something else, elsewhere. A shawarma cannot be sold at $12.00 if there are only 3 shavings of chicken in the whole sandwich for crying out loud!
I say I'm disappointed and sad because I prefer to patronize smaller businesses to get better food than the large outfits, and am willing to pay more, but while paying more, on should get some food product for the money spent.
If the argument were that there's no money to be made on the shawarma, then the price would need to be raised a bit more and give the customer a good feed so that they feel that they had value for money, but if people go to Goya's and feel as though they did not get value for the money they spent, then there is much less profit margin to be made for the business.
Most people might not say anything, they might just never go back and the business will never know nor realize why customers are not coming in... dangerous route to take that of undercutting their customer orders so as to try to increase the margin.
I'm writing this so that they might now that their customers are not finding value in their offerings, in the hopes that they will find a way to correct the problem and continue to attract customers.
Maybe other items on their menu are good value, maybe it's only the shawarmas that are lacking, maybe it was careless employee or an overzealous one trying misguidedly to save the company money, but I'm hoping they will consider their customers' experiences and want to make appropriate changes...
Read moreI had a horrible experience with the owner. I brought my order back to the counter with two garlic fingers gone and asked for my money back and the owner straight up refused. Started getting confrontational with me asking me what he was going to do with my returned food. Told me because i ordered a special I get less toppings. He even took the initiative to calculate what the two items I purchased would come to without the special price. I replied to him telling him then it’s not really a special you’re just offering less product for less money. This guy is a thief folks. Look at the picture closely. It’s not cheese it’s raised Dough. Also accused me of drinking which I was not. Wasn’t about the money for me it was just simply holding someone accountable for Misleading the public. Picture attached after speaking with the owner. Worst g fingers and pizza....
Read moreIt pains me to write this, as we have been loyal customers for the past several years, but I had a horrible experience tonight. My partner called in and ordered a pizza, but they misheard him and made a different one. That happens, no big deal. However, once we realized the mistake three employees all began to lecture me about how it was our fault that they made an error and that we’re making them waste food. I tried to explain that it was a miscommunication on both sides and nobody was to blame but they just continued to make me feel terrible. I didn’t even make the order and they made me feel awful for their mistake. You’ll get great food when you come here but you better hope they make it right the first time, unless you enjoy being yelled at in front of anyone else who is in...
