Stopped in for the first time with my wife, and was friendly greeted by the ladies at the counter. They told us there was a dining room in the back, which is where we sat, in this 60’s diner atmosphere, with jukeboxes still onbthe wall of each booth. We ordered a simple meal of two toasted hotdogs with a regular poutine and one cheeseburger. The food was tasty and fresh. The cheeseburger was larger than most “casse- croute” type burgers, and loaded with the toppings. The same goes for the hotdogs. The poutine was on the small side but good, and the cheese had a good squeak! Will definately return. Update June 2023, wife had the Hot Chicken Sandwich and I had the Hamburger Steak. Both were very good, the hamburger steak was amazing. The home made cole slaw is outstanding! Very pleasant...

I live around these for more then 20 years so i test many time and many situations... best: buy a big poutine to bring out (in aluminium plate)... wait 20 min. before open it... the sauce will have time to bet in the fries and the cheese will be just perfect! That s how they make it: fries, cheese, fries, cheese and sauce. The cheese is always fresh 48h and less! If you order it in the little foam plate or eat it in normal dish it won t be the same... I did it and i was deceive, big difference... I live in mtl since 2000 and never found better poutine then johnny s...

Terrible experience, we had the misfortune of sitting at the bar where we witnessed the cooks preparing food with their bare hands, touching raw chicken the veggies then bacon.... The food was disgusting, the gravy sauce is on everything and is really bad. The poutine cheese is also bad. The fries were fried multiple times some of them being as hard as a rock. The bread for the sandwiches seemed really old and not fresh at all. The place seemed to have a line of people waiting so some other stuff might be good, but not what we got (hot chicken, steak burger & poutine bacon).

Nice vintage diner decor. Homey feel with lots of locals, and a majority of older folks on a Sunday. Food wise, our dishes were ok, but not memorable. Our fries were soft and cooked dark, the chicken was pretty bland and we found the gravy to be overly thick (ton of cornstarch?) with a pronounced flavour of spices (clove? Juniper?) that was overwhelming. We are not from the area and came based on the book Sur le Pouce. Overall I wouldn't recommend making a detour for a meal here.
