Cambodiana Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

What a disappointment ! We used to go to this restaurant over 20 years ago and liked it . Since then we have experienced other superb Vietnamese\Thaïlandaise restaurants here . Feeling nostalgic we decided to go back for an evening . All I have to say is if you want quantity without quality or good service , this is the place for you! We started with the dumplings - mushy , gritty tasteless peanut sauce and wilted fried spinach - we left ¾ of the plate uneaten . Then our mains ; crevettes Ayuthia - a huge round unappetizing plate everything thrown together swimming in sauce , but in spite of of that , edible . She managed to get through a quarter of her order . Then, Ban Hou Vietnam ; a disaster . Similar to my partner's plate , no aesthetic presentation but this time inedible !. The sauce ( again a swimming pool ) had a worn-out ,reused flavor , the steak was tough. the shrimps overcooked , the eggrolls dry ,vegetables soggy - I could go on and on, but why waste your and my time . After tasting ,needless to say , we drew our waiter's attention to this problem, and he did offer another menu choice which I politely refused stating that after 3 disappointing orders, I didn't dare to try anything else . He left everything stagnating in front of us till we decided to leave. Upon payment of this disaster , we were informed that because I refused another choice , we were held responsible to pay for it ( oh, but they did not charge for the dumplings -lol ) . When we disputed the bill, they threatened to call the police - talk about over-reacting -lol. All in all , my advice to all my google friends , please do not waste your money and time on this restaurant . We have so many delicious options such as Symphonie and Soriya in St. Jean.

Quelle déception ! Nous allions dans ce restaurant il y a plus de 20 ans et nous l'aimions bien. Depuis, nous avons connu ici d'autres superbes restaurants vietnamiens/thaïlandais. Nostalgiques, nous avons décidé d'y retourner pour une soirée. Tout ce que j'ai à dire, c'est que si vous voulez de la quantité sans qualité ni bon service, cet endroit est fait pour vous ! Nous avons commencé avec les "dumplings"- pâteuses, granuleuses, sauce aux arachides sans gout, et épinards frits fanés - nous avons laissé les ¾ de l'assiette non mangés. Puis notre plat ; crevettes Ayuthia - immense assiette ronde, le tout mélangé nageant dans la sauce, mais malgré cela, comestible. Elle a réussi à écouler un quart de sa commande. Ensuite, Ban Hou Vietnam ; une catastrophe . Semblable à l'assiette de mon partenaire, pas de présentation esthétique mais cette fois immangeable !. La sauce (encore une fois une piscine) avait une saveur usée et réutilisée, le steak était dur. les crevettes trop cuites, les rouleaux secs, les légumes détrempés - je pourrais continuer encore et encore, mais pourquoi perdre votre temps et le mien. Après dégustation, il va sans dire que nous avons attiré l'attention de notre serveur sur ce problème, et il a proposé un autre choix de menu que j'ai poliment refusé en précisant qu'après 3 commandes décevantes, je n'osais pas essayer autre chose. Il a tout laissé stagner devant nous jusqu'à ce que nous décidions de partir. Lors du paiement de ce désastre, nous avons été informés que parce que j'avais refusé un autre choix, nous étions tenus responsables de le payer (oh, mais ils n'ont pas facturé les raviolis - mdr). Quand nous avons contesté la facture. ils ont menacé d'appeler la police - quelle blague !!!! Dans l’ensemble, mon conseil à tous mes amis Google, ne perdez pas votre argent et votre temps dans ce restaurant. My first impression when I walked in is that it's old and needs to be renovated. At least the place was clean. This is the first restaurant that I've been to that gives a whole jar of water to every table even if you're alone. It gives me the feeling that they don't want to spend too much time serving their customers. They still provided good service when they came over. I had the lunch special soya chicken and it was pretty tasty. I just found there were a lot of carrots and they were kinda raw so by the end of the dish I was pretty tired of chewing them. At least the prices are very good especially since they're a BYOW. I'm not sure I would go back, but...

Amazing food at an affordable price. The level of deliciousness is off the scale! Very fresh foods cooked beautifully. Only regret is that I didn't eat here before today. This will definitely be one of my go to places from now on!
