Toujours Mikes — Restaurant in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

I had just moved to Saint Jean, I tried ordering for delivery and had some issues, so I opted to call in my order for takeout. I also had a bit of issues with communication, as I do not speak well enough French, and most of the staff did not speak well enough English ... but ultimately, we (between myself & the staff) managed to get the order in. 🙂🙃 The food was quite good. I've made a couple of orders [takeout] through this restaurant. I really enjoyed the chocolate cake, as well as the Tortellini, and the lobster rolls were also quite nice. My husband had the pizza/spaghetti combo, and he also quite enjoyed it as well. It can be a little pricey for what you get. The portions aren't overly big for the price you pay. Although, I find this is usually the case in most places that do take-out. Upon eating IN the restaurant, the portions are usually much bigger than what you get when ordering takeout. Well I've been on a restaurant frenzy over the past few weeks and this has been my worsted experience in a long time. Let's get things straight first. The food itself was delicious. The service was very friendly. My issue was portion size for money. This was the most expensive of the 3 restaurants we visited and somehow my main meal was smaller than most restaurants entrée size. My kids got more food than myself and they ordered from a kids menu. It felt like they were trying to get fancy with how they served while being a normal chain restaurant that looks like a below standard restaurant. Nothing about this place was fancy but they definitely thought we just wanted to taste a few things and leave. This is the last time I will be eating at a Mike's restaurant. It's bad enough that it cost me 3 days pay for one meal. The fact that I had to go home and make another dinner was the worst...

I ordered a pizza and it was pretty good. Sauce was fresh, toppings in good amount. However, I can't speak highly of the service. They weren't rude, but I think they forgot I existed. I didn't get the stuffed crust as requested, and no one came around for me to ask about fixing the problem, water dried up with no refill and I sat around waiting for my bill long after I wanted to go. So maybe a decent place to order take out, but I wouldn't go back to sit...
