Edited review update: Oct 2023... My initial review a year ago was a 5-star review. This restaurant was my intro to shawarma when I moved to Saint John a year ago and I've had company visit from out of province and brought them here as well as done pick-ups to bring food home multiple times, always enjoying the quality, flavour, and value for money.
I'm not sure if the ownership has changed hands or not but the last 2 visits have had different staff and after the second last visit, I was sick with food poisoning-like symptoms for 2 days. I related that to the new staff and was worried a local favourite place was ruined.
It's been about 2 months so I decided to give it another chance today for dinner and picked up 4 shawarma platters. Staff are friendly and attentive BUT....
not only did it seem like the food was reheated and not fresh (potatoes were hard, rice was lukewarm), but also... the meat had next to no seasoning and it was dry.
Sadly, I think it's time for us to try a different shawarma place. This restaurant could also very obviously use a...
Read moreMy first visit to the Saint John waterfront, Area 506, was amazing, especially because we stumbled across this absolutely amazeballs shawarma place. Living in the northern end of the province means an easy 2-hour drive to have authentic shawarma, and LET'S HUMMUS did not disappoint. The service made the experience so much better. This place is absolutely blessed with Abbi; I hope I'm spelling his name properly. He was so kind, and we had a great conversation. This uni student who served us definitely put effort into his plating, ensuring the quality. We were served on plates with real utensils, which made the food all that better. I wish I didn't live 3.5 hrs away; otherwise, I'd be there more than I'd like to admit. The hummus is made from scratch right there in the restaurant, and I normally opt out of the hummus and just get the garlic, but I try each spot the first time; it was by far the best hummus I'd ever had in my life. I'll be back again soon. Don't ever change anything, it...
Read moreWas hoping to find some great Shawarma, and I thought I had after reading all the positive reviews. Unfortunately this is probably the worst we've had in all of our travels across North America. The food probably would have been half decent if it weren't for the overwhelming amount of Sodium. No one could get through a quarter of their shawarma or take a second bite of their falafel. Even the rice was over seasoned. I have a funny feeling they're cooking to what the local populous likes as the majority of Saint John residents are obese. To be fair to Let's Hummus, we've tried a couple of other places including other Mediterranean spots and they also served over salted or over sugared food. If you're not from here, the Saint John culinary scene will most likely leave a bad taste in your mouth. You'd Be better served driving straight through New Brunswick, and heading to Charlottetown PEI, or Halifax NS, ...
