So I went to Les assoiffés for the first time last week, and let me tell you -people of the internet- I had an awesome time.
I sat down at the bar and got a very warm welcome from Michael, the strapping young man pouring the draughts. Seeing that I had biked there he immediately poured me a nice cold glass of water without me having to ask at all. I guess it's kind of scary that he can read minds but then again, who wouldn't want to have a bartender read your mind?
He suggested I try a few different taps before I made my choice of a pint to accompany my beef hamburger. All selections were of premium quality and it was a hard decision to make, but I felt that there was no way of making a really BAD choice.
The waitress who served me my plate was a bubbly redhead named Alexandra, and her service game was on point. Smiling and friendly she made me feel right at home (except in this instance the looming dread of having to do the dishes did not cross my mind).
She had made miniature carrot cakes* and she gave me one! Plus she hand picked raspberries from her garden and they were delicious!
I will take a moment now to highlight the amazing service that I received from the night's manager James, a savvy, well mannered young man who puts the customer first (as all managers should do):
So I was sitting at the bar wondering what type of review I'd leave for Les assoiffés on my first visit, and it occurred to me that I'd been sitting on a chair that was sort of squeaky. In my head I was thinking, well this won't warrant a 5 star review because of this squeaky chair.
At that very moment, James pops up and asks me how my evening is going and if there was any way in which he could make my visit more enjoyable. I tell him that I'm having a wonderful time, that the food and drink are one point and the staff are an absolute delight.
AS I LEAN BACK, he hears my chair squeak, and asks me: "Is your chair OK? It sounds like it might be busted."
Upon my saying that it had been unstable at times, he kindly apologizes to me for having to sit on a substandard chair and immediately goes and grabs me a new one.
There is a point in time when customer service peaks, and that -people of the internet- is exactly when.
I think that the staff that served me that night should go to the restaurant hall of fame.
I recommend to anybody who enjoys a good time to go and hang out at Les assoiffés for a bite and a brew.

Read moreI wish I could give this place a better rating, but the service was extremely slow. First, it took forever for our server to take our drink orders, took 10 minutes to bring 2/3 drinks…and another 5 minutes to get the 3rd which felt like they had forgotten as we had to remind them.
Then we ordered Fish tacos which were not bad but took over 45 minutes to come. Yes, simple fish tacos; we also ordered the Tuna tartare with salad only; when we got our plate, we got salad and fries when we requested expressively only salad. However, the piece of resistance was the fish & chip, which was undercooked and still tasted like batter.
We could have closed our eyes on this if it didn’t take forever for our food to arrive. From the moment we took place and started getting our plates over 1.5h had pasted. At that point, we were so hungry that we still ate the food. The person that eat the fish and chip was sick all evening not pleasant!
Our server acted as if she cared, however the result was quit superficial.
The person that brought our menus and refilled our water was profession and helpful unfortunately the only positive experience we had with...
Read moreI am really disapointed in this resturaunt. I found the lay out wasnt that nice the lighting seemed depressing along with the colors. I also didnt like the bathrooms for women the toilette leaked from the handle and a sign to indicate to hold down the handle so it'll flush properly. A changing cushion for babies thats is very dirty and ripped. The floors are ...... well lets say need to be redone. Or furnished. The food...... the pizzas are decent. The entres are okay, but presentation sucks. And theres no indication in the menu for certain things that have either nuts or fish. For example i love my cesar salad, but they made the sauce with fish in it. And the menu had no indication what so ever, its a serious thing since ive never in my life heard of fish in a cesar salad sauce. If i didnt tell the waitress who asked if i wanted anchovies in my salad or capers, that i was allergic to fish, i wouldnt have found out and could have died. That is a serious thing. Yes i know i should ask but if ive never had that problem eating a cesar salad before i dont make a...
