I am not one to post reviews often, but after a few days of sitting with this I would like to warn anyone planning on coming to this restaurant of my experience.
My wonderful boyfriend took me here for Valentine’s Day, after planning a cute hotel nearby. He seen the 5 star reviews and assumed it would be perfect. We were excited to try it but I have to say, I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I do want to preface this that it was a holiday, with a set menu and they seemed gravely unprepared and understaffed. So maybe this restaurant is better other days. But I can only speak from my own experience.
We arrived at 6:58 pm for our 7pm reservation, which he had an email confirming. To which the manager? (Not sure if that was her title, she wore a different outfit from the other waitresses ) informed us wasn’t valid anymore because after they sent that email (see attached photo) they made a new policy and allegedly called him twice for a deposit. But when he apparently did not answer, they gave his table to someone else. After a few minutes of a frustrating exchange where the waitress basically told us we should try a restaurant down the street that’s usually empty , they finally offered us a space on the bar. We were annoyed because they made a policy change AFTER an email confirmation and then it took debating for us to get a seat at the bar. Anyways, we sat down with the intention to enjoy the night since it was Valentine’s Day.
After the first two courses (set menu) they told me and my bf to move to another side of the bar to fit another couple. Moving would have led us to be basically touching legs with the coupole on our left and right. Another frustrating exchange occurred and at this point I was admittedly annoyed and tried to explain the waitress the situation. She was incredibly rude but eventually said that another couple have a reservation for 7:30 if they didn’t show up by 7:45 we can take their seats. 7:45 comes and we move to the table, where’s the rude waitress from above said happy now? As we got up.
Our new waitress was really nice. But poor her she had like a lot of tables and was running around for. Because of the set menue, but different arrival times of clients she was unable to give good service to anyone (not her fault but the fault of whoever though a set menue without set service times was a good idea. ) That led to us getting food in the wrong order, getting water about 30 minutes after we asked. A knife dropping and never getting another, Etc. And the poor waitresses looking exhausted . I want to make clear that I do not blame our waitress for any of this, she really was trying her best and was really kind.
Regarding the food, I don’t know how this restaurant food would be rated on another night, but this set menu was mediocre at best (with the exception of the dessert which was good) . The focus seemed to be on the red color of the food rather than the taste itself.
Otherwise, they also had live entertainment. The singer had a great voice. However, (this may only be because we were sat right next to him) but we could barely talk because of how loud it was. While live music can be really romantic and lovely on Valentine’s Day, couples should be able to talk to one another in a restaurant in my opinion.
I honestly love and appreciate the effort my boyfriend made to plan out Valentine’s Day this year, but we both were really annoyed with this entire restaurant experience. It was not cheap and while we would have happily paid that or more for an enjoyable experience and good food, this was not that.
Notably, nothing was offered to say sorry for the mix up which was their fault, not even an apology.
In our opinion this restaurant is really not worth it.
We loved the hotel we stayed at and plan to return next Valentine’s Day. But you couldn’t pay me to return to this restaurant. I hope for their sake they learn from this experience...
Read moreI came from Montreal to a spa nearby but there wasnt many places open so we gave Le Bistro d'en Haut a try.
My girlfriend and I tried their fish and chips and the mushroom risotto, with a calamare entré and vegetable cream soup.
The food was absolutely fabulous. Presentstion is on point, but the taste is very good. The tar tar sauce was a little too mayoee and sweet for my taste, that's the only critique I have have. The fries were out of this world good. The risotto was deliciously creamy and hearty. The vegetable soup was heavenly and quite filling. The calamare was on point, and the salsa !!! What a salsa !
We took a frampoise and a ginger gin and tonic. At first sip, we thought it was strong but then realised they placed the alcohol on top , unlike what I'm used to - alcohol at the bottom. After tasting each later of the drink I was delighted at the perfection that both of these cocktails were, especially after being mixed.
The waitresses were very kind and understanding and were willing to let us stay past closing time to eat. Unfortunantly we had to rush out nonetheless, I would have loved finishing my meal.
The price was very fair, compared to what I'm used to in Montreal.
If I'm back in st-adele, I'll definitely...
Read moreWe didn’t know what to expect as it was one of the few restaurants in the area that opened very late. We walked in, and apparently the chef was about to leave cause no one was there. But when we walked in, the waitress made sure that the chef was still there and happily sat us down.
I’m very surprised by all these bad reviews but the service we got was excellent. I’ve traveled all over the world and have eaten many great cuisine in France, Asia etc. and this was one of the place restaurant I’d recommend anyone. My husband had the fish and chips and fries, SUPER CRISPY!
I had a leg of lamb special plate. It was about $36 included soup, risotto and desert. Honestly best bang for the buck and the taste did not disappoint. I’m still dreaming about that plate and I’m so beyond full. The portion was generous as well. The restaurant has really nice vibe and in the summer must be super nice.
Would highly recommend to anyone and would come...
