Vietnam Express — Restaurant in Saskatoon

It was supposed to be a nice, pleasant lunch experience with a close friend, that I haven’t seen in a long time. My friend enjoys Vietnamese cuisine, so we decided to try this place out. I asked the owner/chef/waitress, which is their recommended dish on the menu. She responded by saying that it is up to me what I want to eat, with no recommendations. I decided to try their Tai noodle soup. After one bite, it didn’t taste good at all to me and I couldn’t eat it. So I told the owner about it and asked them if I can order something else instead. They responded that I ordered the meal and they made it themselves, therefore I will have to pay for it. They didn’t care about whether I ate the meal or not, or whether I was satisfied with their service. They only cared about making money! It was a very bad, unpleasant experience in this restaurant. The food quality was poor. The shrimp fried rice had very few shrimp, and the rice had an awful texture. The pork in the spring rolls had an unpleasant smell and was clearly not fresh.

As for the service, I ordered takeout and waited for about 10 minutes. Even though I tipped 10%, the server didn’t offer me a single glass of water, despite handing out water to dine-in customers. She didn’t even ask if I needed any. When the food was ready, I realized they didn’t include chopsticks either.

If you are black, please DO NOT GO to this restaurant. So, I went there for lunch for the first time on 13th of July, 2023 and I was horribly attended to. The lady at the front desk left me unattended while attending to those who came after me because they are whites and when I was eventually given my order (a dine-in), I begged her to give me water to drink.
