The Berkshire — Restaurant in Saugeen Shores

My husband and I had dinner at The Berkshire in Port Elgin & what a nice experience it was. Nothing was rushed and it was nice not being hurried to make up your mind and then not finishing one course before the next course comes. It really was fantastic to be able to sit, relax and enjoy. For our appetizer we shared a Caesar salad (crispy and the dressing was creamy and perfect) and before bringing out the salad we were served a delicious bread with a whipped butter. My husband had the “baseball” steak, homemade fries and glazed carrots. The steak was one of the nicest and best done steaks we’ve experienced in restaurants and my husband said it was very tender. I had the pickerel on a garlicky mashed potatoes with fresh green beans. The pickerel was perfectly done, the greens beans had just enough of a crisp and potatoes were smooth and light. For dessert we shared a crème brûlée which came with biscotti,, a small spread of chocolate with fresh whipping cream and we ate every bite of it. Our service was excellent and we couldn’t have asked for a better server. 😊 Highly recommend this eating establishment but do not go if you’re in a hurry because they make it all about relaxing...

My husband and I had the great pleasure of visiting the Berkshire for a fantastic meal a couple of weeks ago! Everything exceeded our expectations and all the small details throughout the restaurant were warm and welcoming. There were a couple of celebrations happening at other tables and there was a wonderful “buzz” throughout the dining room. My husband and I (who are from out of town) took advantage of ordering many different plates (as the entire menu looked mouthwatering). The bone marrow was exquisite! Melted in your mouth the second it touched your tongue. The schnitzel was a classic and the steak was cooked to perfection. We indulged in almost all of the desserts (don’t judge us- we love our sweets!) The brulee was perfection as was the flour-less chocolate cake! The crumble was warm and inviting and the homemade biscotti was just the icing on the cake (not that we needed any after indulging as much as we had)! This restaurant is definitely a keepsake in the small town of Portal Elgin. Everyone who visits this area should definitely stop in for dinner! We will definitely...

Wow! I was completely blown away by the beautiful in-house scratch food with elegant tastes and delicate plating. I can honestly say that I have dined all over Ontario and this is really close to the best hidden gem in Ontario. The Berkshire offers a comfortable ambiance with food that absolutely knocked my socks off. The braised pork shoulder with a delicate apple cabbage slaw, and spetzle on the side was soooo yummy. The pork shoulder was melt in your mouth, and I couldn't get enough ... until ... I heard that homemade sticky toffee pudding with home churned vanilla ice cream, were on the menu. So yes, I indulged! And, it was gorgeous caramel delish! Oh wait, let me not forget about the Caesar Salad, with its bold punch of gaaaaarlic! I loved it. Thanks to Natalie, who offered excellent suggestions and was a perfect host for my first time dining in Port Elgin. The bar is set very high! Thank you The Berkshire ......
