This place was terrible. We decided to go around 5pm on a Saturday to miss the dinner rush and to hopefully get in and out fairly quick. This was a birthday dinner for my wife. We were looking to potentially get some good service. Unfortunately it was the complete opposite. Ordered app with our drinks to make it quick but instead waited VERY long time to get it. Dinners also took extremely long time to get.(THANK GOD we ordered an app). One of us ordered the crab cakes(NEVER order these here) $18 for 2 cakes that tasted like the cheapest can of tuna. Had one bite and tasted so bad couldn't eat anymore. When the server finally came back to check on us after giving us our meals, we explained that the crab cakes were horrible. She offered to get us something else but we declined because the rest of us at the table were already finished our meals(that just goes to show how good the service was...never saw the waitress through our entire meal. could have used another drink). We didn't want to wait another 40-50mins for another meal. The other meals we had weren't that great either. The burger was not too bad but would take a Big Mac over it. The roast beef was as dry as a popcorn fart(thank god it came with au jus to somewhat get it down. The chicken club had the smallest piece of chicken you could find in it. The part that made our experience the worst was when we received the bill. They didn't even offer to take the horrible crab cakes off it, even though they knew we were absolutely unsatisfied with them and only had one little bite. No apology for the terrible cakes either. Now I know they can't use them for anything else but at least make an offer to remove them from the bill to please your guest and persuade them to come back again. This would have also made us want to leave a bigger tip. I am so tired of going out to restaurants, receiving terrible service these days and then have wait staff wine so much that they need bigger tips. 15% used to be the norm if you have great service. Now I see that 15% has turned to 20-30%. Not a chance I would even consider 15% with the service I received form this restaurant. Lucky she got what I gave her. Not a chance I will ever go back to this place either or recommend it to anyone. I even voiced my opinion and sent them an email from their webpage first, instead of on social media. I didn't get a response after few weeksWhat a Joke...) so here I am on google reviews. Do yourself a favour...go to one of the many other Port Perry restaurants before trying this place. So Much for a Nice Birthday Dinner at...
Read moreUpon arrival the hostess stated our reservation was for indoors while I had specifically requested the patio during covid for my elderly out of town guests, fortunately space was available and the three of us were seated at a nice bistro table although it was very wobbly, yet easily stabilized with my foot during our visit. The Fench onion soup was terrible.. easily 3/4 of the soup dish was cut pumpernickel bread (?!?) in lieu of the specified croutons, it was absolutely the worst french onion soup I've tasted in over 40 years and was removed from our bill. The Sheppard pie was not enjoyable either, over 80% of the dish was just bland mashed potatoes.. where's the beef?! I did not finish the dish. In lieu of the soup I requested the Roast Beef Dip which was not much bigger than a traditional slider that was served on a toasted plain hamburger bun that may have been purchased from the local grocery store across the street from the restaurant. Decent Caesar salad, before ordering I enquired if the salad had fresh prepared bacon however I suspect it came from a shaker likely again from across the street. Our server was pleasant and helpful, my guests genually enjoyed their pot pie however I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Perhaps I'm too critical of this nothing special and over priced pub grub, but these are all very simple dishes to prepare. The person who brought Jester's to my attention advised this traditional bar food is pricey - that would not have bothered me if proper quantity and more importantly quality made it worth the visit. I will not return... this supposedly haunted old house that sparked my interest has local favourites but missed impression for me, and no...
Read moreLast time we went I ordered the special and they ran out I then tried to order another special only to be told they ran out of that as well. This is all before 6:15 pm on a Saturday night. We went again Dec 20 and two of us ordered the ham special which came with scalloped potatoes root veggie and home made baked beans and two of us ordered the stuffed chicken special over linguini and two of us ordered off the menu. We were the second group seated in our area which holds approximately 6 or 7 tables. We ordered fast because we were going to the Port Perry theater. Imagine our surprise when everyone in the section has gotten their food and in some cases are on coffee and we are still waiting. We got our food just after 7, show starts at 8 and all our food was luke warm at best. Made us think the waitress left it sitting there. Also the ham was in little pieces almost like it was the ends, the scalloped potatoes were dry. The root veggies and baked beans were good just not warm. The stuffed chicken had hardly anything in it as stuffing and the sauce was suppose to be some herbed sauce but my friend said it tasted like they poured balsamic vinegar over it. Now the prime rib and liver dishes were good as per my friends. The liver dish was served the hottest. Very disappointing night didnt have time for tea or coffee had to rush and pay our bill to get to the theater. Next time we go to the theater we are going to try another restaurant although this one is basically across the street from...
