Today my husband and I, along with my parents drove 3 hours to bring my grandmother to the Grill for lunch. We are all originally from Muskoka/Georgian Bay so had been here before, but the four of us relocated to southern Ontario recently. With my Grandmother in Victoria Harbour and all of us loving the water, this was the perfect spot to bring her for a bite. I cannot say enough incredible things about what happened here today. We brought my grandmother in to celebrate her 95th birthday and the Grill made it so special. They changed the music to play Happy Birthday, and the entire staff came out singing to her with a beautiful dessert. It was such an emotional and heartfelt moment to see how much effort and care they put into celebrating this sweet old lady. The team at the Grill went above and beyond. Kim, thank you so much for your kindness and patience. You are amazing at your job! The food was delicious and the view was fantastic, not to be undermined by the talented team. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We hope to see you for her 96th next year.

This is a cute restaurant with a beautiful view. You can watch the sunset and it’s really pretty. However, we came at 7:30 and didn’t get our food until 8:45. Us and a few other tables waited over one hour without any servers informing us of the reason for the delay. One lady even started arguing with the sever and we overheard the server informing her they were busy and only had two staff in the kitchen. While I understand it’s busy, it would have been nice of you to inform guests of this or offer something to offset the long wait or comp the bill either entirely or a discount. Any other restaurant would have done this. Our hostess Ariana was so sweet and friendly however the servers seemed tired and frustrated. We got the portgueuse chicken and fish and chips. The fish and chips was very basic but the chicken was good although very basic seasoning.

After not having visited this restaurant in a couple of years, we were looking forward to our most recent visit. It was 'okay', but was once again put off by an undereducated staff that couldn't confidently answer basic questions about their gluten free menu items. Even after ordering what we were told was a gluten free dish, the circumspect sauce that came with my meal was not only whisked away, but we never received a straight answer as to whether it was, indeed gluten free. Was that a problem? For anyone who suffers the ill effects and pain of gluten poisoning, you will understand why this is a serious and ongoing concern. I only wish that owners/managers of these establishments could take a little bit of time to educate thier staff on it's importance. Or risk loosing customers.

I would give no starts if possible. I have been boycotting this place since the second year they opened. They have rules that are not common and are ridiculous - 2 beer/drink maximum and before you can get the 2nd one down they are on you to leave... if they think you have already had a drink and they are not always right, they won't serve you... they told me when I ordered a second and I was a passenger on a bike, that I had to melon for awhile but never did bring the drink but brought everyone else one... it was 3 in the afternoon and I had not had anything to drink...a form of racism, and no sitting at your table until all guests arrive just to name a few - they seem to make up new rules as they need to. The attidtude of most of them is so poor for being in the service industry (not sure how they survive on tips as I am sure they do not get many). I hear the owners do not care about customer service as it is their way or no way as they do not need the money) As far as the food - it's the same menu they have had for the 6 years even though they say they will change it they do not. It's almost all frozen and lacks any flavour. I am a local and through the years I have seen more and more locals get their turn at the rudness and quit going .. this is why they are no longer open all winter .. no local support... I have a resort and no longer send anyone there as all I hear are bad reviews and complaints about the rudeness and that the food is not that good ... just had a guest go there only because they had a gift certicicate and he gave it a 3/10... there are now 2 other restaurants down the road with a deck on the water.. come try it out - way better food and service and they are happy to see you come in... one at Driftwood Cove and one at South Bay Cove... way better value for...

Great people, great setting and view but it's the tiny things that can make a difference. Last summer a group of us went for dinner. Two of us ordered steak and the extra sautéed onions. The steak was done as ordered but when you order sautéed onions you don't expect boiled onions which is essentially what we got. Pure white and soggy. Mentioned it to the server with a basic explanation of they don't fry anything. They still charged us for the alleged sautéed onions. Made a note not to order the onions again. Went back again another time and ordered HOT wings. Again, the service was good but the wings were far from hot and essentially no sauce. Mentioned it to the server and was told they use a dry rub and that their wings are not fried.

Went to dinner as a group yet again and one of our party ordered a steak and when asked how they liked their steak prepared, they said blue. The server said they are not allowed to legally prepare a steak that way. Baloney.

Went back this Victoria Day weekend and ordered HOT wings. Noticed that in the menu they have a picture of their wings with hot sauce on the side in a small cup and dressing for the veggies on the side in a cup. I specifically ordered HOT wings and mentioned to the server that I would like hot sauce on the side just like in the picture on their menu. That is exactly what I got. Then the bill came. SURPRISE! They charged me 79 cents for the hot sauce for the wings that wouldn't have been hot without it. It's a small thing but it's the principle. They charged me extra for what was pictured in their menu and presented as what you get when you order.

The little things add up to the point where in spite of the great setting and good people who are doing as they are directed we are about ready to give...

I have to say the only thing this place has going for it the view and location. Worst food and overall customer service we have ever experienced. Managers with no knowledge of the service industry or customer relations. It is not the case of the Customer is Right in this establishment, its cheap out on everything.

We popped in to have a look at the menu to see what they had to offer. The GM was speaking with us and informed us that they do not use fryers for their food - We thought this is a great concept. When we inquired if we could make a reservation we told in a very snotty manner that they will be so busy tonight (Friday) that we don't take reservations. Which is fine as I work in the restaurant business. We arrive at about 6pm to a pretty much empty place - Great view however over looking the lake. When I ask to the ingredients in a cocktails the sever could not tell me ( I guessed she was in Training). I ordered the Grill Chicken Panini with Whiskey BBQ sauce - The Chicken was for sure microwaved it was dry, chewy and over cooked. I told the server that it was not every appetizing and she then proceed to offer me MORE Sauce to make it LESS dry as instructed by her manager. She then presented us our bill (which we did not ask for) and a charge for the uneatable Panini still on the bill. When speaking with the Manager Brian - he informed me that their first step is to offer more sauce, then a replacement but they do not ever take an item of the bill if the guest was not happy with the food - He also directly blamed the server as she was in Training for the bad food and service. We will never return to the place again or recommend...
