The Tipsy Fox Pub & Grill - Shelburne — Restaurant in Shelburne

Maaannnnn really wanted to enjoy this place but unfortunately that’s not the case. Great decor and was greeted with a smile quickly at the door but as soon as we ordered drinks that’s when the problems started. Took a half hour to get our first drinks (which I could understand if it was busy) but it wasn’t. We all then proceeded to order food which was mostly good minus the seafood dishes. One of the servers who had brought the salmon had even said that she was unimpressed with the portion size and the cook of the salmon (over cooked) and that it would be taken off the bill. one bite of the salmon was taken and she was correct. The mussels were even worse they were not cleaned properly by any means. I’ve eaten mussels many times so I understand that you can’t get every single grain of sand out of them because they’re filter feeders, that’s fine but when somebody eats them and it hurts somebodies tooth than somethings fishy there. The server was informed of the mussels and then the manager came and lectured me about mussels which was very demeaning and insulting as if my concern over the mussels was invalid. Everybody had finished so we had asked for our bills which took over a half an hour to get and was asked for clarification on splits 4 times by our server, when we did finally get our bills it was incorrect still a drink was supposed to be taken off a bill because it was incredibly salty but my friend was than told “you ordered the drink so you have to pay for it” and my other friend was charged for an extra double(honest mistake but resolving it was far too tasking) at this point we just said forget about it pay for it because we just wanted to get out of there. On our way out we’re being told to come back and pay for two drinks that were supposed to be on a bill but for some reason weren’t put on a bill? and was told there was a separate one for it i than checked the table and no such bill was there. Everything was finally paid and than we received rude sarcastic remarks from our server. I really don’t like leaving reviews like this and would rather resolve the issue in person but with some rude staff and an insulting manager this really seemed like the only option. Recently my son and I dined at The Tipsy Fox Pub. I can say without any hesitation, it was the first and last time that we will visit that restaurant. Due to allergies (Dairy), my son is very limited in terms of ordering food. He asked the waitress for the penne pasta in plain tomato sauce with nothing on it. Unfortunately, when the meal arrived at the table, it was covered in thick pieces of cheese. As a result, my son was unable to eat his meal. I understand that most people like cheese on their pasta but my son specifically asked and then told the waitress that he needed a plain pasta dish. I then asked the waitress if we could order a new meal for my son as he was unable to eat the pasta dish. We then ordered the chicken fingers. At this time, the manager came over and asked us what the issue was with the pasta meal. I explained the situation and thought we had an understanding that the original meal would be replaced with the chicken fingers. Unfortunately, when the bill came, it included both the pasta and chicken fingers and then my own bill. After a frustrating evening, I wasn’t in the mood at that point to raise the situation again with the restaurant staff. Thankfully, I did have a parent meeting the next night at our son’s school and was able to share my story with numerous parents who shared my outrage with a restaurant that didn’t recognize the seriousness of food allergies in 2023. We obviously won’t return to The Tipsy Fox Pub.

Made reservation for 6:30 online which was fine. Received a phone call 30 min before my reservation saying they were busy and would prefer I come at 7:30. I told him I was already in town and asked why he waited so long to contact me. I should have just went back home at this point but I proceeded to the restaurant. I checked in when I got there and they told me there was no reservation. Anyway, I managed to get seated after waiting only a few minutes. Restaurant decor was nice and seemed clean. Waitress was very friendly but seemed either new or very unsure of herself. Took way too long to get my first beer but there didn't seem to be very many wait staff on the floor. Got some BS excuse about the bartender being the cause of the delayed beer but I never questioned it. Ordered calamari as appetizer. Came out pretty quickly but was obviously over-cooked from frozen. Taste was mediocre but texture was like rubber. Sauce was just a standard Thai chili sauce I think - nothing special. Entree took a bit longer than expected. My wife ordered chicken and it was good. I ordered prime rib burger and it was obviously a frozen pre-fab patty that was inedible. Fries were good. Overall it was a miserable experience and I...
