My friend and I attended Le Chou de Bruxelles last night and we were blown away! As a person with celiac as well as food allergies, the team was happy to help! I got soup of the day, which was leek, it was creamy and gorgeous. For my main, I chose the steak and it was quite literally the best steak I've ever eaten!!
My friend went with the seven course menu, and every dish she had looked spectacular! I wish more options were able to be gluten free, and more options that don't have shellfish in them would be wonderful!
Our server, Julie (Julia?), was spectacular! She was so kind and helpful, practicing her English with me as I don't speak enough French to be well understood! She helped me understand the menu, what options were available and what would be able to be made for me. It's such a luxury experience, and very affordable for what you get!!
I cannot wait to come back, my friend is already telling all of her friends and her boyfriend, so I'm sure you'll have lots of repeat business!
We were also told that the chef is the same person on staff since the restaurant opened 40 years ago! That is amazing! The quality and excellence of the meal speaks to his amazing talents, refined over such a...
Read moreGood Belgian food at a reasonable price with good service and great ambiance.
This place has a lot of dishes that is often not seen in other French and/or Belgian restaurants. That is offals! We love them very much and some were even available in the host table. There are also a lot of choices of mussels but I recommend them only when in season to get the big juicy ones.
Overall, the food was good but could be better. The dishes tasted good but if only the taste was more "concentrated" it would have made the difference between good and excellent. For example, the marinière mussels is cooked in a vegetable broth and white wine. The white wine is usually very predominant in the soup but here, it lacked in it. Yes, it makes a difference in the taste.
Also, you can bring your own wine! There are a 7 course meal, a 5 course meal or you can also order dishes separately. The service was great.
I recommend it because of the...
Read moreMy wife and I dined at Le Chou de Bruxelles twice last week and both times had wonderful meal and experience. Both days restaurant was full. It is "bring your own wine set up", so it is a great bonus (!),... but the food was great and portions were substantial. We took the package deal with appetizer, soup, main, dessert and coffee. Salmon (gravlax) tartar was excellent, so we had it both days (do not miss it!). Mussels are being served in many different ways(I had them and many other people at the restaurant). My wife had fish different ways and the food was tasty and elegantly presented. Our server Vincent was professional, friendly and made us feel welcomed. Thanks for...
