As a visitor to Sherbrooke, I was skeptical that I could find a modern, upscale burger, that met with my big-city foodie-guy expectations. After very late night at a wedding in Lac Megantic, a very long drive back to Sherbrooke, and a very short sleep, I was in desperate need of a really good burger. I did a quick Google search (honestly, I googled "gourmet burger, Sherbrooke") and up popped OMG Resto. "local aged freshly ground daily" were exactly the words I was looking for! Just a few minutes away by car, and open on Sunday! Awesome! I was there in a heartbeat. Upon arrival, "Holy crap!", the place is absolutely stunning! An old cathedral-type church, transformed into something out of the South Beach nightclub. Multi-leveled, high ceiling, slick, ultra-cool, I could go on. The place is dripping with style. Seated by the hostess at the outdoor deck on a sunny day was the perfect touch. The menu is upscale comfort food; burgers, steaks, fish and chips, wings, mac and cheese fries, classy renditions of poutine, awesome cocktail menu, again I could go on. But I was here for a burger. I ordered the "Classique" with aged cheddar and bacon, medium rare, with onion rings instead of fries and a root beer. After a very long wait, in a nearly empty restaurant (it was noon on a Sunday) my burger arrived. Unfortunately it was without the cheese that I'd ordered so I sent it back. Two minutes later it came back under a layer of melted cheddar. The flavor was of smoky bacon, slight ting of the aged beef, perfectly medium rare and juicy. However, the small patty was overwhelmed by the slightly too large bun (which was fresh and sufficiently smooshy as a burger bun should be) and the whole affair was over way too soon. For a $14 burger, I was expecting something close to 8-10 ounces, but this was more like 6 ounces. Not enough. Not quite up to the hype of the seriously awesome looking space. The onion rings were perfect, and so was the chocolate stuffed fried doughnuts that we had for dessert. Please OMG Resto, make the burger a bit bigger and I will be back when I return for another visit to Sherbrooke...
Read moreI wanted to be able to rate this higher! Listen, for ambiance alone, this place is amazing! Sadly, for me, every other aspect was less than ideal. Parking was frustrating- we had to go through a few different lots to find somewhere. Not enough spots to be adequate for all their guests. Service was very, very slow. We were there on a Saturday night, so it was busy, but we waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our food, with no one stopping by before or after the food was dropped off. We had three different waiters/waitresses over the course of the meal, so it wasn’t clear who we were meant to flag down. The food was nice, but I was so hungry from waiting that I barely enjoyed what I was eating. It was fun to see the restaurant, as it is most certainly one of a kind, but I honestly wouldn’t recommend it based off my...
Read moreFirst time to Sherbrooke and were initially pleased with choosing OMG. The atmosphere was very inviting and the drinks were delicious (though they should advertise on the menu that drink specials end at 4pm). We both ordered burgers as we noticed online that was their specialty. After waiting 45 minutes for our order (we arrived to an empty restaurant) we were told that our orders would be prepared after the bus group who arrived 15 minutes after we ordered. Took a while to get an answer but finally after an hour wait our burgers arrived...cold. The waitress was very nice, provided good service and was apologetic. After requesting twice to see him, the manager came over and was also apologetic...at least they offered to comp the meal. Even that still left a bad taste...
