Rain drove us from our agenda to spend the week camping and to the quaint town of Wiarton on Colpoy's Bay, Ontario for two nights. On a Monday evening, selections for dining spots were limited. The Google reviews of Silo's were promising so we decided it give a whirl. The weather was cloudy with light drizzle at times so we're were a skeptical about patio-only dining, but the umbrellas were spacious and provided great shelter. The outside vibe was nice though I'm sure the days of Silo operating are numbered. We were attracted the the meat options on the menu: bison, Buffalo meat, lamb, various spiced pork sausage, and bison brisket, to name a few. The Silo appears to be an extension of The Meat Shop, which houses the very clean bathroom for the cafe and offers a wide array of frozen meats, burgers, sausages, side dishes, flat bread, spices and jarred sauces. There are no fresh (not frozen) meat selections. I suspect the meat offered in the Silo is the frozen patties and links, thawed and grilled. We each ordered a burger made of bison and Buffalo meat plus a side and drink (bottled water) for their combo. We chose coleslaw as the side as it was made in-house. When our food arrived, we added a bag of chips as the meal and flavor balance seemed better with chips. The total cost was $43, which seems a bit on the high side for the amount of prep and serving sizes. Our burgers were flavorful, due to the charcoal grilled burgers and sauces. The meat was definitely the best part of the meal. My husband's burger came with BBQ sauce and cheddar cheese. My burger had jalapeños and cheese in the burger and an additional slice of Monterey Jack on top. The lettuce, onion and tomato were OK but could have been fresher and crisper. The bun was fine; nothing special. We both enjoyed the coleslaw which had a chipotle flavor. I thought there sauce was a little heavy but my husband enjoyed it. The potato chips were Lays regular and bottled water. Ordering is fine at the Silo, food is delivered to your table and we bused our own table. Definitely "fast food ish" and also prepared quickly as there were only three tables taken on this Monday eve. If the flavor of the meat and option of having bison-Buffalo were not a part of this dining experience, I would definitely have given it a three star rating. The creative meat options in the menu make this dining experience interesting and sitting outside on the Main Street of Wiarton was enjoyable.

Went with my sister and we wanted to try lamb but the waitress told me it's not available, so we decided to try Garlic sausage and pulled pork combo, I paid $52 and had to ask where my receipt is. She reluctantly went inside to ask someone else and handed me one handwritting one after awhile. I thought it will be nicely presented since it was a nice menu and we sat in the patio waiting to dine in, I am surprised to see the waitress came with a bottle of spring water first without glass, I didn't order water so I thought it was free, then I found out she messed up my drink order which was included in the combo. After I stressed I ordered apple juice, then she brought a juice bottle just like the dollar store one to me. After another 20mins wait, then she brought two take away boxes, By then I was very disappointed, so we decided to eat in the car since the meals were in the boxes anyway. Soon after I driving away, I found out my pulled pork was not pulled pork at all, it's a kid size burger inside with three pieces sliced meat, I wasn't even sure what it was. And sausage looked like a hot dog from outside with only a few strains of cooked onion, the whole thing just tastes awful. I couldn't afford to drive back due to I still had a long drive ahead to home. But the whole experience made me feel they purposely robbed us since we were Asian, and they certainly knew we were from afar. I wouldn't recommend any visitors from GTA to go there when passing by as this is the worst restaurant I have ever encountered . Reply to the owner on Jun28: Although I don't have the picture proof of the kids size burger I received, but I have had many times pulled pork and I know what I should get. The one you gave me was definitely not pulled pork, also the size was kid's size, especially you claimed you offer large burger normally. You were not busy that day and there was no kid at another table in the same time. So your chef really shouldn't make mistake. Regarding the receipt, I just asked for a receipt, If you offer via email or text message, then it's the problem of your staff who never mentioned that to me, and when you lied that I insisted, and said I am hard to please, it further proved that you are still mistreating me. After all base on conscience, God knows if you are trying to cover up the truth. I will leave it for other people to figure out themselves who is telling the truth.

I recently visited The Silo Restaurant in Wiarton, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere immediately made me feel comfortable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing a great dining experience, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Now, let’s talk about the food—especially the chicken wings. I can honestly say these were the best chicken wings I have ever had! They were perfectly cooked, with a crispy exterior and juicy, flavorful meat inside. The seasoning was spot-on, balancing just the right amount of spice and flavor without being overpowering. It’s clear that a lot of care and attention goes into every dish at this restaurant. The menu offers a great variety of options, so whether you’re looking for comfort food, hearty meals, or a place to enjoy drinks with friends, The Silo has something for everyone. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. I also appreciated the cleanliness and organization of the restaurant—it really adds to the overall positive experience. Overall, The Silo Restaurant is a true gem in Wiarton. With amazing food, especially those incredible chicken wings, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area. I can’t wait to return and try more items from their menu!
