Beamsville Fish & Chips — Restaurant in St. Catharines

2024-07-24 7:00pm Well it seems that the St. Catharines location has pushed away another long-time customer. Ordered using DoorDash and never got everything I ordered and paid for. One item was totally missing, only part of of another item I ordered, and the INCLUDED condiments/sides, were missing. I called the location and was answered by girl #1 who listened to what I had to say but had nothing to say and sounded totally confused and clueless. She and then just, out of the blue, handed the phone to girl #2 who I repeated the issues to including that I ordered through DoorDash. She responded back with an absolutely nasty and rude attitude. NO customer services skills at all! Here is a summary of her response to me... For the missing medium coleslaw, she tells me to contact SkipTheDishes. (Seriously? Why them? I ordered through DoorDash!) As for the Battered Mushrooms (10 decent size ones shown in the menu's picture), the description SAYS it comes with sour cream. I got 7 tiny ones and absolutely NO sour cream. When I ask about the sour cream I get told "It doesn't cost you anything so what do you want?" And finally, for the 3 piece Pollock with fries and tarter sauce as stated in the menu description, again, no side of tarter sauce. I'm guessing I didn't get it because, "It doesn't cost you (meaning me) anything". I have very few issues with this location before, maybe one or two small ones. Always handled nicely and I was treated with respect. I'm guessing the guy I knew that worked there has moved on because he would have never allowed this. If this is the how customers are treated now and this is an example of the type of employees that are employed there, I am more than happy to change over to Union Jack Fish and Chips or to Joey's Seafood Restaurants. Never had a problem at either of them and always treated the way a customer should be treated. #badcustomerservice...

Terrible experience overall. This place offers a SMALL 5 ounce piece of Halibut that was VERY expensive even though I already know how expensive Halibut is to order usually. The coleslaw was tasty but the size was microscopic it was so small! The 2 young female staff members were more interested in continuing their personal conversation when I walked in, than to tell me about their menu and their products!! I had to WAIT UNTIL they fonished their little chat!! That's REALLY bad. They were both maybe 20 years old. Perhaps they should offer the job to some older staff who would appreciate the fact that they have a pretty easy job there! Even though they only offer take-out, the SINGLE, tiny 2 seat table there was to sit at while I waited for my food had a MASSIVE big FAN sitting on it!! It was weird and it was uncomfortable!! For all the money this place charges, install some air conditioning and make it more affordable to eat there. It was not nice outside NOR inside! It was dumpy and far overpriced for a small city where rents aren't like in big cities like Toronto. I'd never eat there again! I only went there because my USUAL fish and chips place in St. Catharines is closed on Mondays and this was a Monday evening...... Really bad...

Gave another try and they screwed up the order again no fries included. They expect you to drive back to fix their error. Or offer discount for next visit which doesn't feed you the night you are hungry. No one verified the order they just took the money and handed over the bag. Do not recommend due to food being only ok and customer service severely lacking.

Previous review: Gone downhill as we used to enjoy this place. They give you food that has sat from a customer that didn't show. We tried it tonight and found it cold but ate some of it.Then when you try calling for over 2 hours finally get an answer to be told " the other person did not show so we thought it would be ok to give you the food" - if it was hot this would be ok but it was cold. They offered 10% off next visit, less than their coupon value. Then the manager offered 15% which is easily obtained with a coupon. No real apology just a brush off sorry but we can't do anything else. I have read multiple reviews of bad experiences with customer service and now see why. A previous visit also left us underwhelmed but we thought let's give it one more try and will no longer order from there....
