Really creative poutines with a variety of other menu items, including: sausage, burgers, hot dogs and more.
I ordered a medium poutine with Thanksgiving stuffing, called the newfie. Stuffing was a great addition. With that said, the medium was massive. Our table also ordered another poutine variation that had dill with an aioli, listed as the pickle poutine - also a smashing success with tons of flavor.
Although we've driven by a few times, this was our first time stopping in for lunch. It's a short, leisurely drive along the canal but also perfectly situated next to the bike path. Get on a bike and treat yourself along the way!
The patio and food truck look recently renovated with covered seating and additional picnic tables. They've done a really nice job. We arrived during broad daylight but I can imagine the ambiance as the sun starts receding over the canal and the patio lights begin to illuminate the patio. Cute date spot? I'd think so.
We had hoped to also try canalside cones but had absolutely no room left. We...
Read moreI've driven out to Vok's Den seven times this year, specifically to get a donair, which is clearly listed on their menu. Not once have they had it available, no matter what time of day I show up. It’s beyond frustrating, especially considering I go 30 minutes out of my way just to come here.
On two occasions, I arrived midday (during hours they are supposed to be open) only to find the truck completely closed with no notice or explanation.
As someone with over a decade of experience in the restaurant industry, including management, I can say this is next-level absurd. The lack of consistency, poor communication, and overall disorganization scream a serious need for a complete management or ownership overhaul. If Vok’s Den plans to stick around, they’re going to need more than luck - a big horseshoe and a whole lot of operational improvement.
Save yourself the trip and the disappointment. Until they figure out how to run a reliable business, I’d recommend...
Read moreIt’s unfortunate for us because we just discovered this gem a couple of weeks ago and we live around the corner…. Not only do we wish we found it sooner, but we also wish we didn’t because now we crave it everyday and give in at least once a week. So cute aesthetically, a stellar patio with lots of seating if you want to eat there(even for rain it’s beautifully covered) take out container options but a fantastic view to stay for if you want to watch the boats go by. The people working are always beyond friendly. Not to mention the fries are TO DIE FOR. Last time, we ordered two large pickle poutines and it was enough for two of us to eat dinner and a late night snack and for lunch the next day and it’s completely reasonable price wise too....
