The service staff were polite, quick, and did a good job. The food was bland. The sauces seemed watered down, gravy was thick but lacked flavour.
Big Chuck burger and the buffalo chicken sandwich were ordered. Caesar salad and fries for sides
The food arrived surprisingly fast, maybe 5-10 minutes. We were impressed.
Burger: great bacon, and the burger seemed to start out ok. But as I got through, I'd found the meat to be overcooked on half and quite dry. Decent spicing and size, likely on the higher side for fat content. Nitpicking, but it would be nice if instead of making the burger taller they made it bigger around. That's not factored into the review however. The burger was served with shredded lettuce (iceberg I believe), a lengthwise pickle slice, two strips of onion (like you'd find inside an onion ring, but straightened), and two strips of flavourful thick cut bacon which were the highlight of the flavours. No condiments on the burger, nor were any at our table when we'd started. Staff did bring the basics later on.
Caesar salad side: we were left wondering if it had a dressing or not. Digging through, we found a spot with some, however very watery. An odd spot to hold out. Did not finish it which is unusual. The bacon crumble on top was also very dry and left to the side.
Buffalo chicken: nothing special, bland watery sauces
Fries: basic restaurant fries, no special flare to them. Nothing bad to say, just nothing special, mild flavour.
Gravy: thick texture, but mostly just thick brown liquid with little flavour.
It seems like they just opened recently. So give it a try and hopefully the food improved. But it's not likely to end up a hot spot for my family and friends to meet up. The food industry is hard, and I can only speak to my one time here.
The place was clean and nobody got sick, it just wasn't very flavourful. So, low risk...

Chucks is new in Strathroy. At our first visit we found, apart from it being a bit more noisy than we would like, the rest of the atmosphere as expected for a chain roadhouse/restaurant. The food portions are generous and the prices are reasonable.
Unfortunately we were disappointed with the food service wait times and cook quality on that first visit however, management was very responsive to our concerns. They reached out and replied to our Google review, so we went back to try it again.
Our second experience was markedly better than our first visit. On a busy night, staff was attentive and managed expectations well by telling us about wait times for seating and food service. Both were reasonable and actually quicker than estimated.
Food was cooked properly, came out hot and tasted good. We has the chicken parm pasta, fish and chips, chicken and rib combo, and kid's menu chicken fingers. The coating on the chicken fingers was a bit too crunchy for a toddler. Overall, it's decent roadhouse/pub fare, but not into 4-5 star territory. We'd give the items we ordered 3 to 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
Just like the first time, the front-of-house staff was good and attentive.
We will be back to try some other choices on the menu, for now, we've revised our review scores.
Chuck's is a reasonably priced option for a night out of the kitchen, or for a decent meal shared with...
Read moreLets get started,
We arrived at 4:30 and were greeted by wonderful front of house staff, (never blame your waiting staff for things out of their control) were seated promptly, served drinks, and had our orders taken in a timely manner. We were a group of 5, we ordered 4 steak and lobsters and a plate of loaded cheese fries with a side salad
From this point onward we proceeded to wait over an hour for our food to arrive to the table (the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks so a delay is somewhat expected but not to that extent). Once our food arrived the staff had us cut into our steaks to check and see if they were cooked according to our requests, 3 out of 4 steaks were cooked appropriately, but one was far from what was requested. Upon taking our first bites, the members of our party all noticed the fact that our food was completely cold. After waiting an hour to receive our food only to have it delivered cold we refused our food and asked for the bill for the drinks that we had consumed.
This experience was incredibly horrible and left us feeling a sense of disappointment as we all loved when it was a crabby joes. We left the restaurant and went to the duke downtown and had a wonderful WARM meal that was delivered to us in a...
