We decided to go because of the PEI Burger Love event, got there and there are 4 tables full, the lady over the counter asks table for how many, hands us menus, tells us to sit wherever we want and tells us she will be right with us. Time goes by and not only she doesn't come to our table but every time she passes by, she makes sure to look down, so we couldn't even make eye contact and let her know we had been ready to order from the moment we walked in. The place starts filling up and it's full within 10 minutes, no tables available whatsoever, the lady continues to walk around with her head down. Around 22 minutes go by and we notice there is a men waiter, at this point he comes to the table next to us, that has only been there for 10 minutes and asks them if they are ready to order, at which point my husband lets him know we have been there for 25 minutes and should be first. He apologizes and takes our order. Another 10 minutes go by and the burger love burgers arrive and wow, what a disappointment, the patty is dry as the Sahara desert and the sauce they put on it, it's pizza sauce, which is NOTHING like the burger description ad for the burger love event, like not even remotely close. I had poutine with mine, and at least the poutine was quite decent. I had never gone there before, but for sure won't be coming back, which is a shame as the restaurant's decor is quite cute, made to resemble an old...

We arrived at around 3 o'clock, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Even when more people started to trickle in, though, we were still checked in on regularly. Our server was very efficient leaving himself time to chat amicably with us.
I had the Starlite burger with sweet potato fries as my upgraded side. The Starlite burger was delicious and juicy with lots of cheese and bacon. The fries were thinner than most places offer which made them nice and crispy. My father was very happy with his fried scallops and we all enjoyed the potato skins my mother ordered. She was pleased to find red beer on the drink menu (flipboard on the table) and enjoyed Upstreet's "Eighty Bob".
For dessert, we ordered the coconut cream pie which the server said he had made himself. It was by far the best coconut cream pie I've ever had in my life. I can't stop thinking about it! I will definitely be back in the hopes of more delicious desserts.
We were a little confused about if we were meant to pay at the counter or should wait for our bill. Either option is fine, but I would reccommend making that a bit clearer.
Overall, it was a lovely Sunday outing and I'm happy we chose the Starlite Diner. The portions were generous so I am looking forward to my...
Read moreI don’t normally write reviews but this one just sat with me the wrong way. To me a diner means a welcoming family style atmosphere. I did not get that today. I went with in laws, myself my husband and two young boys. My youngest 17 months, was not in the best mood. No big deal it happens we manage and get through it, it’s not the first time and kids will be kids. Normally if this ever happens I get people mentioning to me “I remember those days, hang in there mama” you know supportive responses but instead after only receiving my meal and having it in front of me for 10 min my sons cries must have made our waitress so uncomfortable that we were suggested “maybe to go boxes because you seem frustrated and your husband hasn’t touched his food…… we can help you pack up quickly just a suggestion”. I was in full shock, I have never experienced such a feeling of being shunned in a public place in my years of being a mother. This comment was not helpful and I’m sorry if you don’t want to hear a child cry maybe don’t accept them in your establishment. I quickly packed up my son and left while the rest of my family packed up the food. If you have kids be prepared to be judged if they aren’t...
