We were in Sutton with a purpose but only for overnight which we really decided at the last minute. I had read about the place online so I knew for the most part that this is a pub restaurant with hotel accommodations overtop of the Sutton Micro Brewery. I wish I had gotten the name of the young lady who checked us in because she was fantastic and could not have been more welcoming. I mean, this is the type of person you want upfront of your establishment because she simply could not be any better – and in my humble opinion, she should be teaching other members of the staff on customer service, because the one who checked us out was the other end of the spectrum in terms of friendliness. Accommodation: We stayed in something called a King Suite which did in fact have an extremely comfortable king size bed. I mean, more than just comfortable; the kind of bed you don’t want to get out of but have to. But, our enjoyment of the bed again was the other end of the spectrum. The room was odd and very very uncomfortable – the king bed is up a flight of stairs and is the only thing in the “loft” whereas everything else is on the main level where you enter. There is no such thing as a comfortable Hide-a-bed; not for sitting nor sleeping. We did not open the bed of course but even trying to sit on the “couch” was so uncomfortable as you are kinds pushed forward at your bottom with your top leaning too far backward…it was just so odd and uncomfortable. There were no easily accessible plugs anywhere in the place…e.g. to plug in the kettle to make a tea, you had to balance the kettle base unit on the corner of the sink and use the bathroom wall outlet as nothing else reached. There were no spoons for the coffee/tea in the room and no way to stir your hot beverage. There was no milk or creamers for the coffee or tea. The coffee was a French press but again nothing to measure the coffee to go into the press so you kinda “dump” the grounds into the press and hope for the best. There was some sort of swing out contraption very small table from the wall for a mini desk that I was afraid was not able to hold my laptop for a needed work meeting. I had to secure it with a waste basket just to use it. There was only one chair to sit other than the uncomfortable hide-a-bed couch. The small fridge in the unit was balanced on two boards and very easy if touched the wrong way would fall (I know because I caught it). So to sum this part up…the bed which was upstairs and away from everything else was extremely comfortable and everything else was not in the least comfortable. I should mention that the suite did have a nice sun balcony that we did not use because we were out and about during the day. I really feel that this is a two star at best hotel and that is being generous but there is little to compare it to in the area which is likely why it has a higher rating. We wanted to stay somewhere local in Sutton. The three stars for location is by default as it is conveniently located in Sutton, but in the future we will...
Read moreThis place is located right on the main street of the town. Easy to find with plenty of parking and curb appeal. When you walk inside, the decor is somewhat industrial with a hipster vibe. Music playing and a great ambient. We stayed here for one night with 2 children ages 7/3. The staff was very welcoming and friendly! The rooms are on the 2nd floor above the bar/restaurant. Our room was big, clean and comfortable overlooking a running stream. The room had plenty of room for 2 adults/2 children. It had one comfortable king bed on the lower area and 2 twin beds on the loft part. A flat screen tv and a chaise. The bathroom had all the necessary things. Soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. It also had a blow dryer and enough towels. The shower pressure is perfect with plenty of hot water. We found ourselves not wanting to get out. The room was quiet and we never heard any noise from downstairs or other rooms.
We ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was excellent. The staff was great and the place was packed with people of all ages. Kids to teens, to young adults to mid age to older. Everyone was having a great time! Our kids found a table with toys, books and crayons which helped with keeping them entertain for a bit. We had the road-kill and the kids had the poutine. Nothing was left on the plates! In the morning, we went back to the restaurant for breakfast. We were the only ones there at 0800. Greg served us an amazing breakfast full of protein and energy. The kids had perfectly made waffles with berries. They loved it and so did we! We had the breakfast burrito which came with a salad and we had a cold oat cereal with berries and cream. (I think thats what it was) The ingredients were flavorful and fresh! It was an excellent breakfast for a day of skiing. Greg was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with him and learning about other things to do in the area. We definitely recommend the place for both food and stay. We will...
Read moreAuberge Sutton Brouerie is an interesting and eclectic venue to visit in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. It’s a micro-brewery, as well as a restaurant and an auberge. As their website states, you can eat, sleep and eat, all in one place. My wife and I and another couple met for lunch this month at the Auberge and it turned out to be a lot of fun and very enjoyable. My wife ordered the poke bowl with sushi-grade tuna and she said it was delicious and a very generous serving. I ordered the “beebop” cheeseburger, which has bacon, cheese, red onion, a great burger and the Auberge’s custom “beebop” sauce, which was delicious. One of the seemingly minor issues I noted was the hamburger bun, it was soft and chewy but able to support a hefty burger with all the condiments. Service in the restaurant was quick without being rushed, and in both English and French, which was very appreciated. The restaurant also has a good collection of non-alcoholic beer, which we appreciated. The washrooms were located in the middle or centre of the restaurant and if you have the chance, choose a table in the back, which has a great outside view. The Auberge Sutton Brouerie is a great stop to make if you plan to be in the Eastern Townships. We will...
