Nightjar Diner Co. exhibits fine-dining modesty on another level, as the complexity of the menu is shadowed by the minimalism that drives its themes. Possessing the look and feel of your everyday diner, it becomes so much more than clever postcards and choice aesthetic when you experience how good the food is.
A pillowy comfort can be felt while feasting on the steamed bun appetizer, which on a personal level was something I really needed the day I visited. The level of quality was [ to me, a mere tourist, ] indistinguishable from an authentic market variety you may encounter in the depths of Montreal, if not a very precise example. The inconspicuousness of the elliptical dough is a fitting metaphor for the style and substance Nightjar Diner has the right to boast.
The flavors of my fish sandwich unearthed a deeply-rooted memory of New Orleans, quelling my despair of leaving a now inferior sandwich behind. From the buttery crisp of the bread to the assortment of textures and tastes that existed within that bread, what would otherwise be referred to as Po'boy was a slam dunk into the dipping sauce that was consumed in entirety. An acknowledgement of balance is deserved for a true through-composed inclusion of ingredients, and a sensation that will be remembered.
What is beyond the food is the unique iteration of style adorning the walls, which beg you to take a second look past their bizarre and yet familiar first impressions. The comforting atmosphere is brought on through the curated playlist, an inventive list of hand-crafted beverages, the knowledge and skill of the staff, and the care the owners take in their work. It can be observed that no element of this establishment is without consideration, and would be missed by anyone making a trip across Canada.

Read moreA truly awesome experience, and not an expected one in Swift Current! If you're driving by, or just a local, it's a must do!
The menu is very good, and they have rotating lunch specials that comes with a soup and salad. It changes on a weekly basis, so one can expect some variety with the locally sourced ingredients.
We had the bruschetta and hummus tartine sandwich, and it made for a great pairing! Tasted amazing. The soup and salad that came with the dish also paired quite well.
There are other consistent options on the menu (like a Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich) which look great, and they use a potato roll instead, which looks extremely delicious!
The interior of the restaurant is very cool, and feels relaxed and comfortable (like you'd expect at a diner) but also very sharp and clean at the same time.
Worst part about the restaurant is that it's located far away from me! Will absolutely come back if I'm ever in the area, as the daily specials look to be very good as well!
While the menu does not indicate any halal meat, I believe it is good option for people looking for a sit-down experience given the great...
Read moreThis place is confusing. You have this bizarre dinner/ old bakery/ fancy contemporary setting. It's nice and clean but odd. Which only adds to what I'm about to say next. The "fine dinning" experience might be "fine" for swift current. But it is overly pretentious and trying too hard to be something it's not. Right down to the thrift store finds China they serve you on. Never in my life did I expect to see Melba toast.... let me repeat that for the folks in the back. MELBA TOAST. As an appetizer.... for $11. The flatest, blandest, most unpickled pickles. Cheese. And Melba toast. For $42 per person..... 6 thumb nail sized potatoes a half a handful of beans and carrots and a very scantily sized steak. The steak did have good flavor which was the only saving grace. Topped off with the world's saddest $6 literal two bite cannoli with half a teaspoon of cream in it that had the texture of being 3 days old. For $163 you shouldn't have to go to original Joe's for nachos because you're still hungry. The cocktails were good. At least they know how to make a decent old...
