It was a pretty good dining experience at this restaurant with only a few issues to degrade the rating. One of the dishes I ordered turned out very salty, but the staff were very quick to get it remade and it tasted very good after, however if that dish was ordered for take out it would have been a hassle to get the issue corrected. The second issue i have with the food is another dish the meat used was quite dry and overcooked, luckily it didn't affect the taste and only the texture. Those two issues is why i must rate the food 4 out of 5 stars. The service however is very good 5 out of 5 with being kind and friendly while focusing on your needs. The atmosphere is quite nice and comfortable, however it is also quite dimly lit making it somewhat troublesome to read the menu at some of the tables, and that is why i must give a 4 out of 5. Overall this is a very good restaurant and i hope the rumors about their potential closure in the future are false, because i look forward to...
Read moreStopped into the classic Wong's Kitchen while in town with my fellow co-conspirators. We had seven people and limited time so we chose to order the Dinner for Six.
Every single dish was given to the table before fifteen minutes (Probably closer to twelve minutes!). The portions were more than enough to satisfy all of us. Many spoke up about how wonderfully spicy the ginger beef was. I also want to bring additional notice to how wonderful the Beef Fried Chinese Vegetables were as well as I would likely get them on my own if I went there. Our server was fantastic as well and allowed us to split the bill quickly and efficiently. The decor is dated but, in my eyes, that also contributes to the charm of Wong's.
In short, I recommend Wong's firmly for their speed, service, and dishes. I don't frequent Swift Current too much but, if I lived there, I would be happy any day I had Wong's. Pity we didn't arrive early enough to...
Read moreDon't expect the standard North American Chinese food experience here.
Chicken chow mein was stir fry veggies with a small handful of crispy yellow noodles thrown haphazardly on top, and I finally understand why most restaurants list their Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs as being "boneless" - these were bone-in, very fatty, and overall unappetizing. 2/3 of the guests at our table poked at our S&S pork ribs and pushed them to the size.
Portion sizes on the ala carte menu items such as Ginger fried chicken or beef were very large, however, and made up for the lack of edible food on the Dinner for One plate.
Service was decent, friendly, and fairly quick, which helped earn the second star of this review. The atmosphere inside makes the building seem much bigger than its outside appearance, and at the time of our visit there was ample room inside, even with over half the...
