Never ever did we think there would be authentic Filipino food in a small town but man, delicious doesn't even begin to describe it. There's a reason this has all five stars! The food was hearty and comforting and filling! Good portions, great prices, excellent service, and we had such a delightful meal we personally thanked the owner. The Palabok had big shrimps and generous amounts of ground pork! The garlic bread that came with it was yummy too! My husband had the Adobo which had large pieces of chickens and the soya sauce was thick and sweet. As full as we were after, we couldn't pass on the Halo halo which is one of the best I've ever had. The ingredients blended perfectly together and it was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. Highly recommend anyone passing by to stop here to enjoy some wonderful food!! Update: We came back for breakfast! And had the porksilog and special silog. Everything was good but the fried pork was overcooked and tough. It did get more tender closer to the bone. We ordered another halo halo because why not!

This place was a surprising find... Went there on a Saturday and they had a Brunch Buffet... Loved it and ate so much... The spread had Pancakes, Spring rolls, Bacon, Sausage,Hams, Scrambled Eggs, Omlette, Home fries, Fried Rice, Pancit Bihon, Chicken Adobo, Crispy Fried Chicken, Mongolian Pork, Croissants, Toasts and coffee/tea and juices... Extremely friendly and sweet service. Shout out to the sweet lady Bell who was serving us with a smile. She was really understanding for the fact that one of us was a pure vegetarian and he could order a fully vegetarian friedrice and Sisig with tofu... He loved the dish too. If you wanna eat a lot for your breakfast, don't miss this Brunch. Do not expect a 5* Hotel experience. But the place has a good ambience and decent food at a decent price...

At the time of writing this review, the current rating of the restaurant is 4.9 stars which I have to honestly admit, is a complete understatement. The food was so good, we actually came back two days in a row. On the first day, it was very quiet as we were the only customers for the night, the second night was the complete opposite as it was completely full and we had to wait over an hour to get a seat. On the third day, we came in for lunch and was able to get a seat again. The food was so flavourful and satisfying and our waiter (I think he was the owner too) was very friendly and shared with us how he came to Canada to start this business. I highly recommend the sizzling pork sisig which honestly could have been one of the best meals that I have ever had in my life.

Fast friendly service of delicious food, what more can you ask for? We shared appetizers of spring rolls and dim sum. Both of these were light, fresh and flavorful, perfect openers to the main courses. I had the pork sisig, which was like a pork fried rice on steroids. It was served sizzling hot on a cast iron plate and you had to mix the freshly cracked egg into the piping hot pork and sauce. Served with a side of perfectly cooked rice it was delicious with just enough heat to not mask the flavours of the pork and well balanced sauce. My wife had the chicken Adobo, which was a quarter chicken on the bone in a sweet and tangy sauce and served with a side of rice and perfectly crunchy vegetables. Only two small negatives of Isla Kusina is:

  1. the noticable chlorine smell from.the hotels indoor swimming pool when you first arrive. This is of course out of the restaurants control and quickly dissipates once you are into the aromatic and flavorful food. And
  2. They dont have a liquor license yet but they are working on it and hopefully will have this rectified in the near future. My one regret is that, unlike a cow I have but one stomach to give for this restaurant...the deserts looked fantastic but we couldn't summon the appetite on this visit so until...
