3 Amigos (Terrebonne) — Restaurant in Terrebonne

I usually write reviews when the service is exceptional or absolutely horrible. Unfortunately this review is far from a positive one. For the record, I worked in the restaurant and hotel industry in Ottawa for over 7 years, so I am usually quite patient and understanding in restaurants. What was supposed to be a special occasion for my father-in-law’s 85 birthday turned out to be the worst dining experience I have ever witnessed. Our group of 10 had 5:00 pm reservations, but when we arrived shortly before 5 pm the tables were not set up yet. We didn’t get our drinks until about 5:30 pm, even though the restaurant was virtually empty at that time. After that long wait, what a disappointment my $35 Pina Colada was, not tasting anything like it should. Our waiter Luca then disappeared for another 45 minutes as it appeared he was the only waiter for the entire restaurant (this is on management for not staffing the restaurant correctly). We saw patrons arrive after us and get their food order before we even had a chance to order our food. Luca took our food order at 6:15 pm, and our food didn’t arrive until 7 pm. A lady, assuming was the manager on duty, stopped by at 6:50 pm to ask if we had eaten yet as a reservation of 13 people were waiting for our table. We advised her that we hadn’t received our food yet and that large reservation left in frustration. When Luca finally arrived with the first 2 dishes of chicken & beef fajitas, he realized that only 1 person at our table ordered that meal. We finally started to receive our food shortly after 7 pm (over 2 hours after our arrival), and the food quality was mediocre at best. After the food was served, I asked Luca for a new straw as my paper straw had disintegrated while drinking my mega Pina Colada, which he completely forgot about until I reminded him again. At 7:30 pm Luca offered to bring my father-in-law a dessert and Mexican hat to celebrate his birthday, but we declined after being at the restaurant for going on 3 hours now. I approached Luca while paying to tell him how disappointed we were with the service, and all I heard were excuses about being short one staff member when it appears the lack of service was mostly on him. I hesitated on how many stars to give my review. 1, 2 or 3? I decided to go two because I didn't get the full experience. I ordered on DoorDash last night, I had the beef quesadilla (2$ extra for beef). When I ordered beef, I thought I was getting steak (especially for 14$), but it ended up being ground beef in what I can only call grocery-store taco seasoning. I could have forgave the ground beef, after all it doesn't say steak so that was on me. However, the main reason I'm giving it such a low score is the complete lack of cheese. Quesadillas are all about gooey cheese, and here I saw or tasted none. No cheese pull, not much flavor, which is a cardinal sin in a quesadilla. Maybe it's better in the restaurant, but it's one thing if the food was cold (it wasn't) or if there were some problem with the delivery (there wasn't), but that's the impression they chose to make on a customer who ordered for the first time. I won't be ordering from again. If you want to try, I would suggest either going to dine in the restaurant or getting an order to go and asking questions when you do so. Not impressed by their...

I live 40 minutes away from this 3 amigos, went there 4 times and honestly it's totally worth the drive. first the food is insanely tasty, I'm not exaggerating when I say insanely because the spices and the presentation on the plate is very good balanced. If I compare it to other 3 amigos that I went, either the foods were too spicy or couldn't taste the main dishes du to the excessive usage of the spices. The staff are professional and very patient with the orders, they take their time to answer every questions without eye rolling (lol). The place is clean and the toilet smells good (lol again, I mean often restaurants busy as 3 amigos forget to clean and maintain it that way).
