We were led to our table, seated, the gentleman put our napkins in our laps. Next water was served. The glasses were kept full all evening. A small bowl of olives was brought out. Then a basket of bread and a plate with triangle shaped slices of butter and a head of roasted garlic to spread. Delicious. My husband chose the Tempura Battered Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with tomato/chipotle salsa, spicy Guacamole, Tortilla crisps. He said it tasted amazing. I chose the Crispy Apple Braised Pork Belly with Fennel/Apple slaw, cranberries, pineapple, Pork jus Reduction. What a wonderful blend of flavours. The pork belly was nice and crisp. My husband ordered Rosemary Roasted Rack of Spring Lamb with Gorgonzola Butter, Roasted Potatoes & Vegetables. When asked they recommended Pinot Noir wine with the Lamb. Also that the chef recommends it served medium rare. I chose the Red Wine Braised Beef Short Ribs with Garlic/Potato Mash, Roasted Heirloom Carrots, Port Reduction, Orange Gremolata. Our entrees were cooked to perfection and tasted so good. Then after the plates were cleared, they brought us dessert menus and an after dinner alcohol menu. We were full by now but decided to split Warm Chocolate Gâteau with Raspberry Coulis, Fresh Berries and Cappuccino Icecream. A small chocolate cake filled with warm chocolate on a plate with Raspberry Coulis with Bistro written in chocolate syrup and more syrup drizzled on the 2 small scoops of icecream beside the fresh, strawberries, 2 blueberries, 2 black berries and a sprig of mint. The taste was out of this world. The bill was brought with 2 Andes chocolate mints. What a...
Read moreExcellent! My husband and I booked here to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we walked in, the warm embrace that is Seler took over with a wonderful welcome by Monique. The menu wasn’t large but had ample selection to be sure and please a variety of palates. The drink menu was unique and thoughtful. My husband started with a Tranquilatea. A combination of whiskey and chamomile tea which was refreshing and subtle while I stuck to a glass of Pinot. We got lucky and ended up ordering and receiving the last order of the Arancini as an appetizer. The creamy centres of the Arancini complemented the tomato based sauce they came in beautifully. My husband ordered the Big Lake linguine for dinner. Local pasta in a rich cream sauce with seafood. I opted for the Pork Tenderloin. The combination of peanut sauce and the crunchy glaze on the risotto served with the tenderloin was perfection. Both meals were a treat for the taste buds and perfect. We finished the meal off by sharing a sticky toffee pudding. This was such a pleasant surprise! It wasn’t what we were expecting but enjoyed every sweet and sticky bite. Tess, our server was polite, friendly, professional and so attentive. This was our first visit to Seler but it won’t be our last. We are excited to try some more of their offerings for our next...
Read moreThe ambience was relaxing with soft lighting and a romantic flare. We had ceasars which were extremely salty but after the ice melted a bit were ok. The sauce in the scallop starter was a little too sweet for our taste but the scallops themselves with the micro greens were delicious, juicy and decent size. The filet mignon was absolutely incredible! We have eaten steak from east to west coast and that was top 3! The sides were also very flavourful and perfectly cooked. Compliments to the chef! The service was alright. Our server was very kind but absent. Im not sure if there were staffing issues but we may have seen her twice, we weren’t asked if we wanted to order our mains once our starter arrived and had quite a wait for her to come back. When our plates were cleared desert menus were brought instead of giving us the option for our bill or a menu which was a little off putting but perhaps protocol there. After our bill was dropped off she said she was getting the machine but then started placing cutlery on tables so we paid as we walked out. Overall, the experience didn’t meet the expectations from reading reviews but that steak meal made up for the little hiccups....
