This review is for the Kipling store. I usually drop by for breakfast and occasional lunch and 3-4 times a week for dinner.
Pro- I can say that the the food is good, fresh and great value.
Pro-The place is aways clean .
Cons - The customer service is trash!!! . The front cashiers never smile and has attitude most of the time. Very unpleasant .
Cons - The workers seem to be afraid of engaging with the guest. One word answers and no follow through . No acknowledgment when someone walks in.
Cons . Seems like people are not happy working there. I've seen the owner a few times and I can honestly see why. She seems like she's running a slave ship. I've heard how she takes advantage of the hard working women . Paying then lower than minimum wage. Forcing them to take money to take their own money to cover the restaurant expenses. Talks to them like they are children . I Personally saw her lash out at the cook . It was so unprofessional. You can see the despair in the eyes of the staff. She's not a good leader.Perhaps these people are undocumented and that why they try to stay there.
As a female who owns a service buisness with multiple staff , one thing I know is that if you want people to give proper service, you must create the right environment and show appreciation to the hard working staff.
I try to support our black community buisnesses whenever possible. I love our carribean flavored foods . But inorder to survive in such a competitive buisness, we must learn to give proper service. I was a longtime customer of The Sunrise brand, and I knew the owner personally. I said this to him it all the time ,"Service is half of your product" Unfortunately the Sunrise brand has fallen . I would hate to see another brand fall.
I'll be back though hopefully, it...

Read moreMy usual spot was closed so headed down here for supper. Was going to get fried chicken rice and peas but was told it would take 15 minutes so ordered jerk chicken rice and peas. Took about 10 minutes to get the order done so maybe should have ordered what I was looking for.
I wasn’t sure about the veggies, it was majority cabbage and celery with carrots and tomorrows. The chicken was cooked really well, it was juicy. The taste was a little much for me. Was a little salty and had a strong taste of soy sauce. Rice was cooked but not as flavourful as my go to. Will try another time for the fried chicken with the rice and peas. The other downside was my order was prepared the same time as someone who came after me, their meals and mine came out...
