Do not trust this Baskin-Robbins to do things correctly for a special event or celebration like a birthday. I made the mistake of going to this Baskin-Robbins for a cake and instead of a nice memory of my kid’s birthday all I have to show for my trouble is being ripped-off for $36, 3 pointless 10 minute phone calls, a totally disappointed kiddo and being called a liar by a BR employee for my trouble.
A few days ago my wife picked up a cake we had ordered (6" 2-layers, w/ ice-cream + cake) and upon cutting it open we found the order was incorrect (ice cream only, no cake layer). There was also no message on the cake, even though there was a message on the order. My kid was completely crestfallen with a disappointing mistake of a cake in front of instead of what was asked for (and ordered).
I called Baskin Robbins to try and sort the issue and was met with further "misunderstandings" (lies) from the employees there. The first person I spoke to said it was impossible that I ordered a 6" cake with 2 layers as they only make 2 layer cakes in the larger sizes. When I pointed out this was clearly wrong and you can pull up 6" cakes with both cake and ice cream on the website to order, she said she would call me back shortly.
About 20 minutes later she called back and said that she'd spoken with the cakemaker and insisted that I ordered a 2 inch tall cake and that a 2-layer cake is a 3 inch tall cake. I'm not sure what she meant, as the question of how tall the cake was going to be was never part of the ordering process - the only size discussed during the order the cake diameter (6 inches).
The next day (today) the cakemaker called me herself claiming that she “went over everything with me” multiple times (not true) and conveniently forgetting/omitting that she started the order asking when I’d need the cake by (the next day) and then asking what kind of cake base I wanted, offering chocolate or white (I told her “vanilla” and then corrected myself, saying “the white cake”). She continued by asking what kind of ice cream I wanted and what kind of design; I gave her the design and after browsing the ice cream flavors, I told her vanilla ice cream.
At that point she even said, to confirm she had it right, that I was ordering the white cake and vanilla ice cream which I responded affirmatively. She then asked if I wanted anything written on the cake and we went over the message together to make sure it was correct – other than the message, though, she didn’t “go over” or “review” anything else about the order – if she had, it would have been apparent she mixed something up and omitted the cake portion of the order.
Incidentally, the one part of the order she did review with me – the written birthday message – wasn’t on the cake at all (not smooshed are hard to read – it was totally absent and not even attempted).
Rather than own up to getting turned around on the details order, an understandable mistake to make, the cakemaker decided to double down and insist that I was lying.
In the past few years I’ve ordered about 3-5 cakes a year from this BR location, probably totaling somewhere around $150-200 per year + another 5-10 visits for ice cream with my family – business I’ll happily take elsewhere after...
Read moreThis Saturday when my child pointed at 'Buy one scoop get one scoop free' banners in front of Baskin Robbins store I was hoping it is still before 12pm so that I have an excuse for not buying the ice cream. Nope, it was exactly 12pm, then I told my boy I left the credit card at home, but then he stretched his hand with $20 he got for his birthday two weeks ago. So I got two scoops for him and to my surprise I was charged the whole amount. When I asked why I was told that's because the promotion starts at 1pm, not at 12pm as was stated on banners outside (I will try to upload both the photo of the banner and the receipt). Luckily the Federal government has increased child benefits for people like us and I can afford giving back my son's cash. I am voting for hairy guy...
Read moreI come here often as I live in the neighborhood and love coming to get my favourite scoop!
Now my favorite is the Jamoca fudge Cookie crumble which unfortunately ran out and it’s seasonal as I inquired by them. I only had it twice this year since I just discovered it. However, Chocolate chip cookie-dough, it’s a classic & can’t go wrong with this one! I love chocolate so I usually get the maui brownie at times.
I would love to see more new chocolatey flavours!!! :)
Overall, they have great flavours to-go in the fridge & super cute cakes! The place is well-maintained and it’s their new location as the plaza is newly developing. The staff is super friendly, I am always served by the girls and they do a wonderful job with their service :)
Highly recommend to visit...
