Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Toronto

The chicken here was great, juicy and the batter was crispy and fresh. I got the mashed potatoes which were very mid. Kinda thick and gloopy, and the gravy was just pure salt. The Jalapeno Bombers were a pleasant surprise, good jalapeno taste, the nacho cheese works, and it does have a bit of spicy heat which I appreciated. The Texas Pete hot sauce is kind of like a Louisiana hot sauce, but I like Louisiana hot sauce better.

The service was very friendly and welcoming.

The atmosphere could be improved. There are just way too many signs saying you can't sit inside unless you pay, you can't use washrooms unless you pay, etc. Like everywhere. Every wall, every post, every window... it sucks! Really cheapens the place and makes for an awful eating experience for paying customers. You feel like you're eating at a junk place. I understand you feel you have a problem with people using the space without buying anything, but don't make the space unwelcoming and feel like garbage for real customers. Went last night at 9:30 for the first time and it was horrible. Took 30 mins to get 4 crunch meals. The girl could not understand anything, not because of her English, because she was an airhead. Took 10 mins just to pay. Then, the guy proceeded to begin frying the mega bites and instead of helping the chick put the order together, he left to wash dishes. Another girl announced she was going on break. Another customer came in and ordered a 4 pc, and was served instantaneously. After 25 mins of the cashier walking around aimlessly, she proceeded to check the “mashed potatoes” which were empty, so she filled up a pitcher of water and a bag a powder and whisked it for a Minute. My husband freaked out and cancelled the mashed potatoes and demanded all French fries which took another 15 mins. I went into church’s chicken with a few of my friends while a fair was going on, I cannot explain to you the service I received because I asked for a plain Chicken burger with a bun and a regular chicken tender. I received lettuce and mayo after waiting for 10 minutes in an empty church’s chicken. I went back and asked for it plain with a new chicken tender but instead they gave me the same one with the lettuce and mayonnaise being scraped off. The patty looked like a big fish finger and after asking them to change my order 2 times I finally asked for a refund after getting my refund back I did not receive my 10 cents EDIT: I forgot to mention the attitude of the employees coming into the store, very rude and unwelcoming.
