Dairy Queen (Treat) — Restaurant in Toronto

Went in on Thanksgiving Monday around 4:00 p.m. it was a beautiful day and a perfect opportunity to have a family ice cream outing. Unfortunately there was only one girl behind the counter and four different sets of customers waiting ...some of them standing outside because location is super super small. I waited while she finished writing the name on one cake and then moved on to the next customer who ordered 2 cheese Hot Dogs and a blizzard. There was only one hot dog bun left and she had to get out all the different supplies including the cheese to make the one hot dog. One family left and then another family couple walked away and then finally I came to my senses and left as well because it didn't make sense to stand there 20 minutes for ice cream. This location is very very very very run down and is operating on a skeleton string and there didn't appear to be any kind of temperature control. It was boiling in that small space. My heart really went out to the lone staff who was doing her best and still being polite and conscientious despite the difficult working conditions on a stat holiday. So on that one point I would give her five stars. I'm surprised Dairy Queen as an overall company doesn't impose higher standards and quality control for the look and feel of one of the restaurants. I always thought that chain stores strive to have consistency across the board but this particular location looks like nobody's given it any TLC since 1990. As for the quality of the product I couldn't say if the ice cream tasted as bad as the place looked. I ordered a large strawberry cheesecake blizzard with double the cheesecake pieces and a small vanilla ice cream cup for my dog. The lady over-blended my blizzard, so there were ZERO cheesecake pieces. They were all turned into powder, and they’re the best part!!!

She also put on the wrong lid (the kind for a soda drink and not the clear plastic ice cream lid), which didn’t close properly, so the ice cream was melting down the sides of the cup and made a HUGE mess by the time I got home less than 10 minutes later!

On top of all that, I paid about $4 more than I do at another location for the exact same order (but the other location actually makes my order correctly)!!!

For about $18, I could have bought two pints of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream for myself & a plain vanilla cone from McDonald’s for my dog. If I had, I would not have been disappointed when it came time to eat my rare treat that I decided to splurge on tonight to celebrate some good news. I will not be returning to this location ever again.

Update: I decided to give them a second chance because I didn’t want to drive to a farther location during rush hour. Never again!!! How hard is it to make a Blizzard?!?! I paid extra for double the cheesecake pieces. I did NOT get ANY cheesecake pieces in the bottom 2/3 of the cup. Just the top 1/3 had any cheesecake pieces or syrup and the rest was just plain vanilla ice cream. Completely disappointing and NOT AT ALL worth what...

I have ordered choco dip strawberry blizzard, but they give me strawberry cheesecake, which contains egg in it, and I am highly allergic to eggs. And we ordered total 5 of same thing, they made all 5 wrong!!! Apart from the blizzard, when we ordered 4 choco dip strawberry blizzard, we wanted to order one more, and the employee was just started to make the order, and we tell them that we want one more. For that one more order, the denied and tell us that you have to wait in line for it. We have waited 20 minutes in line to order again. Also there were two employees working and it seems that one on them was in training, and on that day there was a long line, still the other trained employee was doing nothing not Even taking our order. So it was my very bad experience in this store, I waited for 20 extra minutes, also I got WRONG food which I am highly ALLERGIC of. I was supposed to finish the ice cream, and realized that this is strawberry cheesecake Blizzard. Now I don't know how it gonna react.
