GC Jerk Xpress — Restaurant in Toronto

I had the opportunity to give this restaurant a try after passing it a couple of times. it is very unfortunate that i had a really sad experience and if the gentleman wasn't so friendly it wouldn't even have gotten a star's.

I had order a red peas soup + 2 Jerk/BBQ Chicken combos.

I took a few sips of the soup and i noticed a tangy zest flavor that i kept telling myself it's just me. after about 4 sips i took one last one and i couldn't eat anymore, i had gotten my partner to try it and immediately he looked at me and said no this is not good. The soup was indeed sour. A complete waste of $8.50. Especially during times where everything is a rise i would have liked my money back unfortunately i do not live nearby, I had tried to call but the phone just rang out.

The Jerk/BBQ chicken combos. the portion was pretty small and received mostly legs, the rice was very basic in my opinion and i highly didn't enjoy raisins in my coleslaw. They should have an option to opt of out that as it really messed with my taste buds not expecting that whatsoever.

The fella who served us was really nice, however upon taking my cash i noticed he put his finger into the soup top where soup would eventually touch. (gross) I had asked for a new bowl.

I cannot speak for anything else and I'm sure they have better options but because I've literally wasted a lot of money, and food. Im not sure if they will be able to redeem themselves with me purchasing from here again. All the best to the restaurant. (test soup twice a day to ensure freshness - serving bad soup...

It was my first time at this restaurant. I am from out of town, so I stopped to get a bite. I ordered the jerk chicken poutine and a chicken soup based on the servers feedback. He was really nice,

He suggested the jerk potuine, I thought yay chicken and fries what could wrong. Should be OK, right? and chicken soup, plus the pictures looked good.

Prior to me leaving, I tasted my soup first, and it was all water and no flavor at all. I told the server, " Like OMG, don't ever tell anyone this is Jamaican soup, where is the flavor. The pumpkin still has the skin on it. This is not suitable when serving the public. It wasn't even worth asking for the money back. I was so insulted as a Jamaican. The soup tasted like a consume, It was long wata."

It was horrible. I can't even drink it, No way to soar who's belly. It has chicken skin floating in it and next to no chicken. I'm so confused 😕.

Then, the jerk chicken poutine. I tried it, and the presentation was not nice at all. It was disappointing I couldn't even take a picture. Chicken chopped up in squares, im a thick cafeteria gravy on top fries.

The flavor had odd spices in it halfway through my stomach, felt sick, and in the morning, I am nausea 😵 hence the reason for this post.

I will never eat at this place again, that...

Exceptional hospitality and service.

They came in set the room up , made it beautiful!

The food ….. the food…… the food

Amazing- Jerk/ Fry chicken, Vegan Noodles, Vegan Coconut Curry Chick peas, Rice and Peas, Jerk Chicken pasta , Salad with Dressing amazing. Everything tasted like it was seasoned with love.

And the service / exceptional.

Thank you once again for being there in this difficult time for my family and I. The guest were also all blown away.
