Grandone Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Toronto

Currently they have a 50% off their whole menu promotion during the Covid pandemic. Their shrimp sandwich is very unique, it is not a full patty of shrimp, but shrimp and vegetables mixed with some kind of either fish or shrimp paste. The coating is fantastic, super crispy and crunchy, but you have to eat it right away to get that great texture. There is a strong white pepper flavour in my opinion. The bun was soft and had a good bounce to it and the sauce was delicious it compliments the burger well. Their fish burger was very good too, it kind of reminds me of a filet o fish and the old Burger King fish sandwich combined together, again it was super hot and the batter was very crisp and crunchy, the tartar type sauce was great. I think the star of the show is there calamari, I thought it was amazing. Has a tempura type batter and super crunchy exterior and a nice soft slightly rubbery texture of calamari that is perfectly deep fried. They give you two sauces, not the usual cocktail sauce. Their chicken is good too, although I feel that their seafood steaks the show. The chicken is all dark meat pieces which I love and the batter is very crunchy and not too thick, I feel it could use a little more seasoning, the spicy pieces are actually dusted with a spicy seasoning powder. Their onion rings are similar to Harvey's style. If you like fried chicken and seafood, it will not hurt to give this place a try...I definitely will be back for...

Grandone is the new fried chicken joint that has become the talk-of-the-town for its delicious fried chicken and seafood fiesta. Even if you’ve tried it once, I bet you’ll be ready for another round 🙌

What all I tried: 🍗 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬: Marinated in black peppery batter, drumsticks were soft, crunchy and comes coated with right about to spices the way you like it. Brings a lot of Asian flavours in each bite.

🍗 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: These tenders are buttermilk marinated and are the big day of the crispy drumsticks

🦑 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙞/ 𝙎𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙙 𝙍𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨: The rings were crispy and juicy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside and went perfectly with the creamy garlic and spicy sauce

🍔 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗽 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗵 🍤: This is undisputedly the best pick from the entire menu. The sando comes with mighty shrimp patty (something I’ve never seen before) wrapped in cheese and ranch which was Incredibly delicious and crispy.

Don’t Miss: 🥘 𝑰𝒏-𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒚: The gravy is freshly prepared in the kitchen with their secret recipe and goes a good side with the drumsticks and the tenders.

Grandone recently has been the talk in the Toronto food blogger community for the past month, so I though it was time to make a visit to see what the hype is all about.

Grandone offers a selection of comfort food items ranging from fried chicken, sandwiches (fish, chicken, even shrimp), and seafood.

For a place that prides itself in their fried chicken, I couldn't resist trying them out. The seasoning on the chicken was solid, I felt the meat could have been seasoned more as the taste was suble upon each bite. The skin was fried had a nice crunch with a hint of sweetness to offset the paprika.

The chicken tenders were moist and juicy, which is not an easy feat to achieve with white meat. The fried sole filets were flaky and not overcooked.

The shrimp sandwich was a unique combination of plump pieces of nicely cooked shrimp with peas and corn adding a pleasant texture to the patty.

The staff at this place were very friendly and courteous, even as the orders started to pile in for the dinner rush. They always ensured to update customers who have been patiently waiting for their orders, which is a nice gesture on them to ensure each customer gets freshly prepared food.
