I recently had the pleasure of dining at Old Time Chinese Cuisine restaurant and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that transported me to the heart of China.
The menu at Old Time Chinese Cuisine is a treasure trove of authentic dishes, offering a wide variety of options that cater to every taste. I was thoroughly impressed with the extensive selection of traditional Chinese cuisine available. Each dish I tried was bursting with flavor and made with the utmost care and attention to detail. From the fragrant and perfectly seasoned stir-fries to the mouthwatering noodles, every bite was a taste of culinary excellence.
The service at Old Time Chinese Cuisine was equally outstanding. The staff was attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with recommendations. However, what truly stood out was the attentiveness of the owner himself. He took the time to personally greet each guest, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and valued and the food was to our satisfaction. His passion for Chinese cuisine was evident in his interactions and the impeccable service provided.
I left Old Time Chinese Cuisine with a feeling of complete satisfaction. The combination of delectable food, exceptional service, and the personal touch of the owner made for an unforgettable dining experience. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Chinese cuisine served with care and attentiveness, I wholeheartedly recommend Old Time Chinese Cuisine. Read moreWhat a gem this spot is. My good friend suggested I try it out when I recently moved to the area, and so late one miserable (for us) evening, less than an hour before closing, we stumbled in and were immediately greeted by the owner, Sam, who is one of the most incredible characters I've ever met- his warm, jovial, demeanour immediately made us feel at home, and brightened our otherwise bad day in a big way. After ordering, we got entangled in various interesting conversations, some light, some deep, and at some point in passing I mentioned I'd always wanted to try baijiu- well, sure enough, Mr. Sam immediately busted out a bottle and poured a generous shot for myself and our waiter, who was lovely. I am a fan- it was awesome, and totally unlike any other spirit I'd tried... I will have to pick up a bottle sometime. The food was every bit as awesome as Mr. Sam's personality- both the Kung Pao Chicken and Stir-Fried Beef with Green Onion were absolutely incredible; some of the best representations of those dishes I've had anywhere, both so thoroughly seasoned and perfectly tender/juicy, really bursting with flavour and texture... incredible. The beef in particular was a favourite. Oh, and their fried rice is incredible too, not overly oily or heavy, and extremely fresh tasting. The quality of the ingredients is evidently on the high side. I will be back in no time, of course for the awesome food-- many dishes yet to be explored--, but especially for Mr. Sam's big personality; a truly unique, deeply authentic, human... they are rare these days,...
Read moreThis was the restaurant that taught me to love Chinese food, which I previously considered an inferior cuisine (usually greasy, bland, and heavy)
The food here has a unique quality normally only found at home: you can feel that it was made with love, that it has a soul.
The portions are generous, hearty, and beautifully presented. Everything, without exception (even the vegetarian food) is perfectly succulent, wonderfully seasoned and flavorful. Nothing feels heavy or unhealthy or stale. You can taste the sizzling freshness, the lovely subtle smokiness and savoriness of everything.
The whole place is warm and bright and airy and fragrant. I've never been in an establishment that feels more welcoming and homey - like a beloved grandparent's house.
Everywhere you look, there are whimsical books, murals, paintings, and ceramics, providing plenty to look at while you wait (never long) for your food.
The chef/owner is delightful just to be around - stepping in you feel like a happy, beneficent old uncle is welcoming you home. The rest of the staff is similarly kind, happy, and friendly. The food never takes long to arrive.
The restaurant business is brutal; I don't understand why anyone enters it unless they are truly passionate about food and hospitality. I can say with confidence that this restaurant is a project of love, what every restaurant should be.
The mapo tofu is a standout, so are their veggie stir fries. I would come here several times a week if I...
