It's Been 11 Good years since I had Visited Brar's. After such a long time, one is in the idea that the taste of food or the place may have changed. But literally. Nothing. Has. The moment you enter, you're hit with the familiar smell of baked Naan, the sour smell of Pickled Veggies, and the sweet and spicy smell of Malai Kofta. Ambience wise, it's the same old Tiny shop that I remember visiting every other week 11 years back. The Chairs, the tables, the water jug, the arrangement, the bathroom in the basement. Everything is exactly the same. Almost as if I've never left. Thali: I ordered a Rice Thali with the usual array of sides: ✓Malai Kofta: This is a must have. The Kofta is super soft and very Savoury, soaking up the essence of the curry perfectly. The Kofta Curry is amazing and the taste hasn't changed since. The mild mixture of spices overwhelm your senses in perfect tandem ✓ Palak Paneer: Super soft paneer in spicy yet flavourful palak will have you wiping your plate clean. ✓Paneer Butter Masala: Tasty curry with Mutter (Peas) and Paneer, is a must have. ✓ Jeera Rice: Excellent steamed basmati with the flavour of jeera. ✓ Pickled Carrots: My favourite Red Delhi Carrots, pickled with mustard, jeera and chilli. All in all, Brar's was one of the most Nostalgic visits in Toronto, keeping up it's taste after an entire decade. My best wishes to the Brar's Family!

Tried the Chana bhatura and the thali. The thali was really good especially the chilly paneer, dal makhani had a tad extra salt in it, Chana was delicious too. This place does provide value for money in terms of the taste and quantity of food. The places where is place has a lot of room for improvement is service and the quality of food in terms of the oil/grease. The employees are not very friendly and seem to lag speed/strong communication/customer service skills. Had to wait around 25 minutes just for the Chana bhatura and when I went up to the counter to ask how much longer it was going to take, I was told they don’t even have my order (in-spite of having already paid for it) and they went on asking each other when one of the employees jumped in to clarify that I had ordered the Chana and paid for it, so they need better communication. In terms of the food quality, it wasn’t bad but the food was extremely oily/greasy, less oil and salt would have elevated everything on the plate. Also, they should maintain the tidiness of the place as the tables are always dirty. 2.5 stars for food 0.5 stars for service

I came here based on a friend’s recommendation and it did not disappoint. I was told the flavour has stayed consistently delicious over the years, and the price is also affordable - about $12 for a 3-curry dish with rice and dessert (same price for 4-curry and no dessert option), $3 for a basket of fresh naan. Easy to share between two people with average appetites, as the naan and curry are filling. Cantonese saying for this type of spot is 平靚正. For myself, with mild-moderate spice tolerance, I felt the curries were all made to a good amount of spice where it was flavourful and enjoyable. I would definitely come here again to try more of the curries and likely get a repeat serving of the lentil curry and okra. Sugar cane juice and sweet lassi were also good. Booth seating is comfortable and the space is clean, with water available at the self-serve station for no additional cost.

Absolutely never ever going back to this place, I would like to mention that I agree with the review submitted by Aarushi kumar as I was with her visiting the restaurant, while coming back from work. Totally understanding my timing as it was around 9:25 when we reached the restaurant, we did not want to trouble them 35 minutes before their closing time ( Which by the way a long enough time) and asked if could only order take out. There first response as we entered were “Eyerolls”, “Frowns” and “Sighs” and they were in complete ignorance as they did not even greet us. The answer to my question was an eyeroll as well and the crew started communicating among themselves, saying “ Ek hi thali bachi hai, bol de”, assuming that we might not understand the language, well, I am a native Hindi speaker myself and understood completely that they were saying that “ Tell them only one is available”, and not even looking at us by this time. This was a pathetic experience and we started leaving the restaurant, telling them you should have rather just asked us to leave than to behave like this, and they did not even attempt to stop us and clear if or any misunderstanding, proving that they only wanted us to leave. I am never visiting this restaurant again and would strongly recommend everyone I know, not to visit as well, as long as this staff serves here. You can be sure that you will be losing a lot more customers if they keep on behaving like this. They should learn from the restaurant around them and across the street, where we...

There is no doubt that food at Brar is tasty. However, I would like to lay emphasis on the way how I was treated by the staff few minutes ago. I was hoping to pickup some food on my way home from work. I checked the closing time before coming here and it was clearly stated that the restaurant closes at 10 pm. When I reached at Brar Pakwan at 9.25 pm, there were two female employees. I could notice the eye roll that the lady at the front (probably the cashier) did. She was not at all welcoming, rather hostile. I understood that it is probably their closing time , so I asked her if I could order takeout. In response to this she said, yes but started making faces. She then started communicating with her co-worker in hindi , 'Ek hi thali bachi h ,bolde ' and ended her sentence with a heavy sigh, assuming I might not be able to understand the language. However, I am a native hindi speaker and I completely understood, what she meant and how she wanted me to leave.Their entire conversation with me was rude and unwelcoming. When I noticed this behavior, I told them that I can understand what message you guys are trying to convey and headed towards the exit They did not attempt to clear if there was any kind of miscommunication, hence proving they wanted me to leave. I am sure if this has happened with me , this must have happened in the past as well, and might continue to happen. I will never visit here again and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone just because...

I know about this place pretty well as we live only two kilometres away from this place. I know that in past years, 90 % of the times I got utterly disappointed with the quality of food. Not only food, their staff’s attitude is also bad. The prices they charge are very high compared to the bad quality of food and sweets they offer. Many times I thought of writing a review of this business, but somehow resisted that urge, but today, it was the extreme. I ordered takeout of one alu tikki plate and one lb of paneer pakoras. I ordered here because I needed those items quickly and didn’t want to go to some far away place. Trust me, the alu tikis were of average quality and paneer pakoras were terrible. Looked like, either they had prepared them 2-3 days before or they had used the expired and bad quality paneer. We had barely used two pieces of paneer pakoras, rest all went to kitchen garbage. I was raging with anger. First, I thought of calling the restaurant, but then I thought there will be no use of banging against the wall with such arrogant staff. So I decided to write this review today. If you really can understand my frustration with this business, stay away from them and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. We have already researched a restaurant and are using it as well. Business name is Sweet Mahal, which is located in front of Woodbine racecourse. We are pleased with its quality. But we have decided not to visit Brar...
