Absolutely frightening. Took almost 2 hours to get our order. Only upon calling, after an hour had gone by, did they inform us that they were busy (it's a restaurant and we placed the order at 7pm, after the usual dinner rush) they'd run out of the egusi stew we originally ordered and offered a substitute. 5 more minutes we were told. Called back 25 mins later. Left a vm. Got a call back that sounded annoyed we'd called in the first place. When our order finally arrived - quite literally 2 hours after we placed the order - an item was missing. Granted, they called to offer to send something else on the proviso we placed another order, if just a water?! So pay yet more delivery fee and tip to get the items I originally ordered... after 2 hours?! Food itself was terribly disappointing, let alone the portions. Tiny portion of plantain given the price (and the price of actual plantains)... as well as overly oily. Granted I was raised by a Haitian woman, not African, but banane-plantain is not supposed to be this oily. The fish was ok. The chicken was dry and tasteless. The substituted spinach stew was poorly spiced (oregano??) and what passed for meat was seriously just bone, sinew, and fatty gristle. From the seasoning, it would have been tasty if there was any actual meat. The fufu was good. Should have read the reviews - and not the latest; clearly an attempt by friends of the resto to alleviate the previous ones... which by our experience are pretty fair. Sorry African Village. We debated leaving a review, given we got a credit... but you really need to up your food game...

I recently had the privilege of dining at African Village, and I can confidently say that it was a transcendent gastronomic experience. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an ambiance that exuded elegance. The menu at African village is a true work of art. Crafted with precision and creativity, each dish showcased a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that left me in awe. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the meal, from the presentation of the dishes to the carefully chosen ingredients. The staff demonstrated an extensive knowledge of the menu, providing insightful recommendations and ensuring that each guest felt valued and attended to. The attention to detail extended to the service, with each course being perfectly timed and presented with grace. The atmosphere of the restaurant was enchanting. The elegant decor, soft lighting, and soothing music created a serene and intimate setting that enhanced the dining experience. African Village is a culinary gem that deserves the highest praise. It is a testament to the artistry and passion of the chefs and staff who work tirelessly to create an unforgettable dining experience. If you're seeking a culinary journey that will delight your senses and leave you with lasting memories, I wholeheartedly recommend...

First off I just want to say that I'm furious!!! My first time ordering in the restaurant I asked for Jollof rice and fish with plantain ( size small) . They told me it would be 20 mins wait, I accepted. Came back 20 minutes later and waited for another 15 minutes in the restaurant which had no AC , I was in heat sweating, the workers at the restaurant didn't have the decency to ask me to sit nor apologized for the long wait until I asked again how long is this going to take? Another 20 minutes I waited ..so all together it took them almost an hr to give me my order. Wait thats not it, as soon as I got home I couldn't believe it, there was NO FISH, NO PLANTAIN, nothing that I asked for, it was shocking for me too see just one piece of meat , one piece of other meat on top of the Jollof rice! This place is a disgrace, I can't believe they would actually do that to someone , not only that I waited for sooooo long but my order was wrong! I paid over $22.00 for the wrong order, i was actually looking forward to eating a nice delicious meal. NO STARS, BAD SERVICE, WRONG AND THE WAIT TIME WAS WAY OVER DUE !!! I do not recommend anyone experienced what I went through...

I ordered the grill mackerel and the suya goat and beef. The mackerel was fried and topped with magic cube liquid instead of being braised. The soya meats were overboiled and not sufficiently grilled to give them a proper char. Just before paying, I realized they had overcharged me a bit, but I thought, it's an African restaurant, I'll let it slide and I even left a tip. In total, it cost me $67+tip 79 to my great surprise, given the poor quality of the meal. I called them to bring this to their attention, and when I asked about the prices, they said, "Oh, the prices on the website have been updated." I replied, "But why didn't you update the site? Because when I check the prices, you need to let me know that they have changed." Personally, I would never return to this restaurant, but everyone has their own experiences. After all, it's often said that Africans don't help each other. The quality-to-price ratio was disappointing. La seul raison pour la quelle j’ai tenté se restaurants je me suis dis comme c’est camerounais pour avoir fait beaucoup de pays africain personne atteint le niveau du poisson braisé à la camerounaise, expérience fait honte au continent 🚫

I ordered the Nigerian Jollof rice with fried fish, along with a quarter grilled chicken. The rice tasted very good and the fish was even better, with the 'skin' of the fish being crispy. However the portion size of the fish was a bit small. The quarter grilled chicken was "well done", meaning it wasn't super moist but it still wasn't hard to chew or eat. It tasted good but the fish was even better. Food was somewhat expensive but that's to be expected by traditional food that's cooked from scratch. Main concern would be the wait time for the food to be made. I would suggest to call in an order about 30-45 minutes before arriving to eat, or to bring some entertainment to keep oneself busy while waiting.

Avoid at all cost. Worst restaurant ever- they need to be ashamed of themselves. It is wickedness to make people pay for a terrible meal that looks that way - See picture below. This is capable of making one come down with some terminal health issues. NB: Before buying a takeout make sure to inspect thoroughly before leaving. We trusted the fact that we would have something good and didn’t check what we paid for until we arrived home. Chicken was burnt (see picture), suya burnt, partially cooked and tasteless jollof rice and pepper soup full of bones. Everything purchased at this restaurant was a disaster. Never again.
