Firstly, i would have gladly given four stars. If. As it is, the Bengali Sweets & Restaurant have earned my 3-star rating for the consistency of their food and their lengthy menu. It is a 100% pure vegetarian restaurant and if you love the Indian-style cooking of spicy veggie dishes, you will not be disappointed. You can always count on most food items including their Aloo Paratha being freshly baked and quite tasty but you can also try their bathura or puri together with one of their many veggie dishes like the appealing Aloo Gobi. One of my favorite choices is their delicious Chana Bathura which is a daily special, priced at only $4.50. Other daily specials include the Halwa Puri at $6.50 which makes it worthwhile visiting this restaurant on a Sunday with your family. Samosas are always readily available, hand-made as opposed to Samosa Sweet Factory's automated production for which I really do not care for, however popular they are with Caucasian folks. I enjoy a good old fashioned samosa which has a bite to it. Now for the best part of what Bengali offers...their extensive selection of sweets! From various types of Burfi and Ladoo to Peda, their sweets are simply mouth-watering. I often opt for the Besan Ladoo, Kaala Gulab Jamun and Jalebi which are always made fresh on the premises. Sadly they do not offer the Patisa which is one of my fav Indian sweet but no worries, I always buy my Patisa at the Samosa Sweet Factory since they too have a large menu of sweets available at reasonable prices. The sweets however at Bengali are a little on the expensive side which is the reason I did not feel it justifiable to give them a 4-star rating.

Great place for decent Indian good, but I mostly come here for the sweets. I would give this store 4 stars, but I was absolutely DISGUSTED by the staff who were not following the recent COVID-19 bylaws set in place. Their hot food did not have lids, and none of the staff memebers were wearing a face mask (even though there was a sign posted on their cash register). An elderly lady cooking inside kept popping her head out, and she was not wearing a mask while cooking, either. Nobody told the guests coming in to cover their faces. I took pictures and will be reporting this restaurant for by-laws violation on toronto.ca website if I come in a couple of days and this is still happening. Peel region has the highest number of cases of COVID-19, and I could not believe how UNPROFESSIONAL these folks were - seems like they have no care for their customers or family members!

I don’t know why these people do this but everytime I buy from them they put the fresh food on top and hide the old stuff at the bottom, I’ve bought sweets, sambosa, and biryani, everytime they put fresh on top and stale and hard on the bottom, it wasn’t like this a couple years ago but maybe management changed. Price is good for portions as well. Still really good food. Like no joke. Seriously tasty and seriously seasoned. Although no drinks, heads up, their mango lassi is really bad and tastes a little bit like garlic but I guess that’s more authentic, also they used to have chutney and salt and tissues on the tables but now it’s barren. Whatever it’s more of a nostalgia spot. Good classic food, sometimes iffy but hey life’s a gamble. Get with the times.

If you are vegetarian it's great. They have many options to choose from. Their sweets section is always loaded and full and many people seem to love getting a box of authentic sweets that taste just like back home! However If you are vegan or have dairy allergies and want to know if an allergen is in a specific dish, good luck getting the staff to tell you. They almost seem to get mad when you ask if items have milk or butter or not. In fact, I have asked for items with no butter and have received them anyway, only realizing it DOES have butter on the next visit when another staff told me it is not vegan. Pretty confusing. If you take your allergies seriously, or animal cruelty, then this wouldn't not be the place to go.

It seems like the sale is more important to them than respecting your dietary wishes, which is sad because most of the dishes can be made without ghee or butter anyway. The food that they do make is tasty , regardless, but sometimes the okra and the eggplant are swimming in oil which can leave one feeling nauseated and heavy in their stomach. The rice is almost always microwaved and not freshly made, which is a shame.

Makes a pretty good place for takeout, as the interior decor is lacking any charm and many things , like vents in the wall, the bathroom and a fresh coat of paint, are in desperate need.

Maybe the other locations are better? But if you have a date or someone you want to impress ,...

Absolutely terrible service. Me and my family arrived here to break our fast tonight. Tables were dirty and had to call to clean and even then, it was cleaned. We went on to our for thali, I was told to wait 5 minutes and ended up waiting 15 minutes. Girls were extremely slow workers. Family we were served, the lady tonight was horrible and had attitude. She was so slow and unprofessional. She kept going to the back and laughing away with the cook behind. She didn't know what the veggie meatballs were made off. She told me that we will have to wait even longer for naan. The food looked really cold and untouched!!! She went on to fill in the first thali when she realized she had no salad either and that she was going to make some for us. We expect that if it is a thali plate, food should be ready to be served. On top of this, she had the audacity to want to stop serving me in the middle so she can seeve another customer from before which she hadnt fulfilled her job properly. I DID NOT continue with the order, I left immediately. I'm absolutely disgusted with the service and the unprofessionalism. Bengal Sweets really need to fix their customers service immediately. We came in empty stomach and left empty stomach after 20 minutes and we were fasting. We will not...
