I have been to this location dozens of times, so this review is not based on one bad day.
I find this location of McDonald's quite frustrating and getting progressively worse. A lot of reviews complain about the drive-through service, and it is definitely inconsistent. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it takes forever, and sometimes I end up having to park and wait for my food to be delivered to my car. A few times, I have had to wait, and still managed to get cold fries. I'm sure they were delayed due to preparing other parts of my order, but this is just poor planning. When I see a long line, I'll go inside to avoid some of these hassles, and that hasn't helped either.
As frequent customers are aware, the McDonald's app is hit or miss. The kiosks at this location are also hit or miss, and there is no designated employee at the cash. This is acceptable when I see 3 people in the store, but I have been in there once with 11 people working and still nobody at the register, so going inside saves you some fuel, but not necessarily time.
Recently, things have changed for the worse. My last 4 visits have all resulted in me taking home unsalted fries - they used to be either unsalted or over-salted in the past, neither is ideal, now they're just unsalted which I guess is less worse...if you're given ketchup; but even more frustrating is that they have started short-filling the fries, especially the medium fries. My large fry orders have been short-filled as well, but not as dramatically. It has been a very long time since I got what I paid for.
The silly thing is I don't think it's greedy owners shortchanging customers, the Tapscott and Progress locations are significantly better and operated by the same people.
The reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the prices at this location are slightly better on specific items than the Woodside and Walmart locations (for now), and the location is extremely convenient with ample parking and very good traffic flow in all...
Read moreVisited this location at Markham and finch this evening. Placed order through kiosk. Tapped payment, which went through, then screen said printer not working. Now I am in limbo as no order number and payment already gone through. They should at least display the order on kiosk screen if printer not functioning. This is a McDonald's kiosk software design flaw. People might presume order not gone through, and try again with essentially paying twice, or leaving. Anyways, moving on...
Went to pickup counter. After a while, my order arrives. The gentleman servicing my order places the tray on pickup counter. Some customer at cash calls him in a language I didn't understand. Lol and behold, he abandons my half filled order, walks away to service them! I presume he will come back to give my drinks, or at least give me glasses so I can get them myself, but no.. He is gone.
This is either a huge training flaw, or maybe it had something to do with race? I would like to think not, but really, what other conclusion can I come to???
In any case, our dining experience was ruined for the evening, as it took almost five minutes, and me reaching over the counter to grab glasses for our drinks in desperation before another attendant walked over. My original attendant was max three feet away, but servicing the customer he had ignored me mid order for!
I think mcdonald's is brilliant in their strategy of taking customers money before serving, as that prevents the customer from leaving when encountering lousy service! The only reason one should visit this restaurant location, is if you are starving and nothing else is open. Even then, I would recommend searching in between the car seats for a forgotten bag of peanuts or something, over gracing the McDonald's at finch...
Read moreThis is one of the worst McDonald's drive-thru's. Another bad location is Leslie and Sheppard, unless they improved. But let's talk about Markham and Finch.
I cant say what the service and quality is like at any other time, as I only come for breakfast on the weekends. But I always receive a stale breakfast sandwich with overcooked eggs and a not so fresh English muffin. Also, their coffee is always diluted. I understand that it is a busy location, but they should always have a new pot of coffee brewing to be able to serve all the customers optimal brew rather than topping it off with water. I dont really know what's going on with their coffee, it could be that or the fact that they're double batching a single brew.
The first time it happened to me, I came back through the drive-thru and told the order taker, "you didn't really think you we're going to get away with this, did you?" She didn't even ask me what was wrong, it's as if she already knew what the complaint was. So she took my coffee and said they'll brew a new and fresh batch, where she had me park infront of the store to wait. I think that asking customers to pull to the side or front to wait for the fresh brew is a way better option rather than to top it off and dilute with water. It would just make things easier for their staff and their customers as well.
It happened to me again today, Sunday November 29th. My fiance's coffee was strong, but mine was diluted. We didn't end up going back through the busy drive-thru as we were in a rush, but my question is how many times are they going to get away with this? It's as if they take advantage of the people coming through the drive-thru because they think we'll just takeoff without checking our...
