Mermaids Find — Restaurant in Toronto

Okay, so my review might be a bit long, but I had to come and give a review.

I decided I wanted seafood for Christmas dinner and on Christmas Eve after work I went to 2 Asian restaurants to order and they were so busy, the first one stopped taking orders. I still kept driving around and found another place, I went in, stand in line. I was the only black person inside. I realize they were taking a long time to get to me and someone came in that spoke their language after me and Took and a menu and showed the cashier what he wanted and they served him. When i finally get to speak with the cashier....it was as if he didn’t even want to take my order. He then told me they are not taking anymore orders until after 830. I asked can I just place my order then pick it up later. He said no!

Anyways while driving home disappointed. I remembered in a group a few people had posted about Mermaids Find. I went back to the group when I got home and was able to order on Christmas Day. I had forgotten to add my apartment number and contacted the restaurant and spoke to a very nice lady and she had already gotten my email regarding my apt. Number and assured me my order will be delivered not to worry as they have quite a few order before mines. I didn’t mind because I knew they would be busy.

My food was delivered and I was so happy when I open the paper bags. Food looked so delicious...my partner and I ate and loved it.

I posted my food online and on WhatsApp and everyone was asking where I got the food from. On Boxing Day a good friend saw it on my WhatsApp and said she wanted to order exactly what I ordered, so I copied the order from my email and sent it to her. Then I realize I had also order a soursop Milk Tea that I didn’t received. I was so excited about the food I didn’t even realize. Lol anyways I contacted the restaurant again and informed the nice lady that I had spoken to and she remembered me and remembered making it. But somehow it never got delivered.

Anyways without hesitation she had my soursop Milk Tea delivered to me. And it was delicious.

The service and food was delicious and this will now be my go to when I have that seafood crave. I want to try all bubble tea and all seafood flavours. I’m so happy I found you guys through that group. I will be telling everyone that likes seafood about this restaurant.

Keep up the good work with service and the delicious food and portion.

I will be a regular from now on.

Atmosphere + Service: First time going, went to order in person – this is definitely more of a take-out joint than a sit-down restaurant. The location is shared with a pizza place so you could get seafood, pizza, and bubble tea all from the same location if you wanted to! The folks working were easy going and friendly. It was a bit of a wait, but they did inform us of that upfront, so we didn’t mind and just wandered around the area to kill time.

Food: My friend and I got the “Big Combo” to share and added an extra half lobster tail which they charged us for separately. We got the corn and potatoes with mild ‘mermaid blend’ sauce. They note that it’s a best seller and I can see why! The sauce was DELICIOUS. My favorites from the combo were the mussels and the crab although the crab is a little tricky to eat. Personally, I was not a fan of the crayfish. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the way that they make it here – I just think crayfish itself isn’t for me. In addition, I wish that the shrimp were the ‘already peeled’ kind for the combo.

Overall: Would I return? Yes – next time I would order in advance though. I would also get the rice as one of the options in the future – I think rice would go amazingly well with...

First of let me say if you love seafood this is the place to try it at ! I will admit I used to love eating a big chain seafood restaurants like Red Lobster / Captin Boil but after eating at Mermaids Find I cannot go back to them . This place is like finding a hidden Gem literally ! If you like spice in your seafood you have to try this place out . The amount of spices and other flavours used in all of the dishes will simply have your mouth watering . Not only is the food great but the staff is extremely professional, friendly , clean and you can tell through the food that the chefs and staff take their time to prepare and cook each and every dish . I promise if you try this you will be a repeating customer just like me . Due to the restrictions dine in options is not available but rest assured the way they pack up your meals are neat and proper . Another thing I will say that I love is how they infuse the caribbean culture into the food , you can just taste that this from the islands

I highly recommend Mermaids Find to all seafood lovers and even if you’re not and want to try some flavourful , mouthwatering seafood dishes . Look no further ! FYI the photo does not do it justice try it...
