I really do wish I could love this place but after giving them a second chance, my experiences have gotten worse.
The first time I went in, I wanted a planter made, the owner/manager said they didn't have time that day and to come by the following week. I showed up and they said "we are too busy for you today", I figured, maybe just bad timing and everyone is busy, I totally understood. They told me to come back the following week and it would be fine. So I make my third trip down there and of course, too busy for my order. The manager was texting me during this time and she is really nice but my purchase didn't seem important. I asked her again to text me when they had time for me, I never got a follow up text. I felt like my business wasn't important to them.
Today I decided to go back and try them out again. Maybe they were just super swamped last time, perhaps this time will be different (again I really want to love this place, and second chances are always necessary just to be sure!) I asked if we could sit outside or if we should wait for our food inside. They directed us to sit outside and it was alright. We waited out side for our food, they brought the drinks to us, which were mediocre at best but I was starving. My diabetic grandmother also feeling quite faint and no food. After about 20-25 min I finally go inside and they tell me that they have been calling us to come get the food the entire time. You cannot hear them from outside and we were under the impression they would bring it out to us. The staff argued with me, and might I add we didn't even eat our sandwiches because they were absolutely disgusting. Maybe just a bad day but this was my 3rd time into this place and I have been treated poorly each time.
To the manager; I truely like you as a person but please treat all of your customers the same, my business...
Read moreWe just held our 8 year old’s birthday party there, and it was a really great experience yet again! My son requested to have a Minecraft party there this year after doing the same for his 7th birthday last year. All the kids had a great time building together in Minecraft and the Minecraft expert, Emily, did a great job helping the kids with anything they needed (like switching from creative mode to survival mode and teleporting to each other) as well as keeping everyone behaving nicely and not too rowdy. They have a catering menu you can order from, or you can bring your own food. We ordered pizza delivery (which went really smoothly) and we brought our own snacks and cake. After cake the kids got to do a little bit more in their Minecraft world. They didn’t want to stop when the party was over, but it was easy because the staff person simply announced that the server would be shutting, and then when it did shut everyone’s session ended at the same time so it was super easy to transition to loot bags and goodbyes. The cafe upstairs means that parents can hang out and get a coffee up in the cafe, or stick around in the Minecraft area and chat while the kids do their thing. Booking was really straight forward and all the folks we dealt with were great. All in all a great...

I got to know about the Maker Bean Cafe through a former colleague/now friend since she’s a frequent customer here. And besides that, my company bought me a ticket to one of their laser cut workshops as a birthday gift, so I have more than one excuse to check out the place.
The environment was filled with interesting laser cut and 3D printed decorations, which was so cool. I didn’t get to try the baked goods, but the peach lemonade (a complementary drink I got as part of the workshop ticket) was so refreshing. Chris the owner was so welcoming and by talking to him, you can tell he’s super passionate about his coffee shop.
The laser cut workshop was fun and super beginner friendly so you don’t need design skills to join. Personally I’m a graphic designer, so I got a bit surprised that the attendees had to use Illustrator CS2 (an… old version of a design program) to create the design. It all worked out for me, so I don’t have any complaints! At the end of the session, I got to make a coaster-shaped laser cut item to bring home.
If you’re in the mood for trying something new, I highly recommend their...
