Laura’s Steakhouse is ok.

If you’re looking for a typical small-town diner experience Laura’s could be the place for you. The interior is clean and well-maintained, but not modern or stylish in any way. It’s an average looking small-town restaurant. The menu has all of your “meat & potatoes” favourites that you would expect at virtually every other western-style restaurant you can think of. Was there anything there that was bold, innovative, and adventurous? Nope, not at all. But I believe this to be intentional on Laura’s part. When I looked around at the clientele the vast majority of the people there were senior citizens who know what they like and like what they know. Considering how full the restaurant was I can see that Laura’s have clearly hit their niche.

Personally, I ordered the steak with sweet potato fries. My steak was bland and somewhat overcooked, but when I look at the crowd around me, I could see that bland and overcooked would be the ideal way to cook for most of their customers. Once again Laura’s know who they're cooking for.

I found Laura’s to be a very ok experience. Typical food presented by typical service inside a typical restaurant. If you’re the type of diner who hates surprises and is looking for a very predictable meal with nothing strange in, on, or around your food then Laura’s is probably the place...

Our first indoor dining get together with family after restrictions were ended - what a perfect evening!

Fabulous food - 3 of us, including my 11 year old granddaughter, ordered the 6 oz BBQ steak dinner (with Caesar salad and garlic toast for under $16), I had the BBQ ribs (baked potato with extras and steamed veg - that my granddaughter stole off my plate - under $19) while my sis-in-law took the info from our server and enjoyed the veal cutlets (their #1 seller - and a bargain well under $20).

Amazing service - we felt very well looked after - the lovely server even confirmed the details of our order for each of us before leaving the table - not many do that. Hot water for tea was refilled quickly and easily. Same with pop refills and checking on our meals.

Oh and I had to order onion rings (with tartar sauce dip) as an appetizer - every time I see them on a menu I have to try them - other than a bit extra crispy they were so tasty.

I guess we had one little issue that I only realized when I started writing this - my meal was supposed to come with a tossed salad with Italian dressing and I never got it. We were busy snacking on onion rings and visiting and I didn't notice at the time. Would have been nice but it was still a great experience. We will be...
