My mother and I went here for a nice meal.we entered and the waiter looked us up and down. Told us to take a seat, and slowly made his way to us. Three men came in and all the staff seemed to bend over for them ignoring all others. There was an older couple and three ladies who came in before we receive our food. The men were served quick and we had to ask three times for our check. They came after us, had food before us, and left promptly before us. The couple and the group of ladies were just being waited on when we left. Personally I feel insulted by our waiter and hope that being rude and ignoring customers is not a policy for this establishment. As I said the food was delicious, but the staff was rude. Would recommend the food and not the staff. Making it clear you think people are trash and you walk pass them is not welcoming.

Great atmosphere and great food. The first time I stumbled into this restaurant I was really surprised to find something this cool in Berwick, Nova Scotia, but I shouldn't have been. This restaurant is very popular, serves great food, offers vegetarian and gluten free options, and has really great, unique dishes. Traditional fare too, as I ordered the seafood chowder the first time I was there, and my husband ordered the pan fried haddock the second time. The haddock meal was also gluten free, and I had really delicious, hand-made veggie bean burger that time. No complaints about the food here at all. The decor is fun too, with a bicycle on the wall spelling out "food" and a shelf of old cameras lining one post. Great staff and great service too.

Student Review: We went to Union Street on a biking trip with our class. We planned going here in advance as a treat after the first 30km of our bike ride because we heard that they had good food and it was on the way to our campsite. They kindly let us bring our bikes inside because it was raining and the restaurant wasn't too busy. The service was exceptional and our waiter was very nice. The food was also delicious and not too expensive for pub food. The inside of the pub felt like a traditional pub, and I liked the wall art with the bicycle. It is a nice small business and we hope it continues doing well in the future.

Not sure why this place has such a high rating. Had a terrible dining experience there last night. Called an hour in advance to order 2 veggie burgers and fries to be ready for 6:15. The employee who took my order seemed drunk or incoherent for some reason. For a few sentences It seemed like he was speaking gibberish. He didnt ask whether it was to eat in or for takeout. We arrived at 6:10, 5 minutes early and the food was already sitting on the front desk in a takeout bag. The waiter seemed confused when we told him we were here for the veggie burgers. He said to go right? And I said well no I didnt specify and you didnt ask but we planned on eating in. He seemed troubled by that response. We went to take the takeout bag to a table and he was very reluctant to let us take it. He insisted that we let them take it out back and put it on a plate for us. We sat at the table and waited ten minutes for them to apparently transfer it to a plate. When we received our food the burger was completely cold (not to mention very gooey and messy and tasted a little bitter). After the burger we tried the fries only to find that they were quite overcooked. They tasted kind of like ashes and were very crunchy and almost just hollow shells. To top it all off we were not waited on once during our dining experience. Nobody asked how the food was and nobody even offered us anything to drink! Not even any water was offered. We think they had the food ready long before 6:15 and were planning on us getting it to go so that by the time we did open it we would be long gone. Which is why he acted so weird when we told him we wanted to eat in. We also think it took so long to put the food on a plate is because they probably didnt want to give us really soggy fries which is how they would have been after being in the takeout styrofoam, so they put them back in the deep fryer which resulted in them being burnt and tasting like carbon. This terrible meal also cost 30 dollars. It wasn't worth more than 5 in my opinion. Very disappointed in the service and would never recommend...

We've visited The Union Street about 5 or 6 times with our now 8 month old son and have always been treated with respect and served great food. On Sunday, however, we were absolutely floored with how we were treated when we walked in. Before walking in to have brunch, we bought some lattes from a cafe near us. Had we known this would be such a problem we gladly would of left them in the car. As we walked in a woman greeted us with a warm smile, which quickly vanished when she noticed our coffee cups. "You're not supposed to bring outside coffees in. We sell coffee here. You can just... Uhh, sit wherever." We awkwardly started walking towards a table and she said under her breath "Also I'm pretty sure I told you guys this last time." She spoke to us as if she personally disliked us and accused us of doing the same thing last time, when we have never brought coffees in there before. She then lowered her eyes and continued to do whatever she was doing prior to us walking in. We sat down for half a minute, but gradually felt that we were not welcome, so we got up and left. And again, she did not look up or acknowledge that we were leaving. My wife was very upset so we took our business elsewhere. I don't think we will be...

We were told the wait time at a competing restaurant in town was 1hr20 mins so we decided to come to Union Street instead. We’ve been here four times before, first three were good, the 4th was unacceptable and we won’t ever come back. Waited 1hr50min for our food… they had a large table but otherwise restaurant was not busy. We should have been given a heads up if it was going to take THAT long. Server warned us it would be a little backed up due to the large table and suggested we get an appetizer. OK, heads up was good, but an hour wait for nachos is still unacceptable. Then another 50 minutes after appetizer for our food. This is not “a little backed up” it’s unreasonable and we didn’t have the time to spend but didn’t want to get up and leave after we already ordered drinks and appetizer (other wise we would have left long before).

What really set us off is that the server gave the table next to us a FREE appetizer and they received their main course well before us and before another couple who were there even before us. We ordered burgers, how complicated are burgers?? Disappointed and should have been given a heads up on the wait. We wouldn’t have stayed but at least we...
