Update Oct 2023: tried the almond gai ding (chicken with almonds, celery, carrots, onions, mushrooms, baby corn) and the sizzling pot (beef tenderloin in black beans sauce). Sizzling pot was truly delicious, chicken dish was good but needed soya sauce. July 2023: We ordered spring rolls, dry garlic ribs, chicken chow mein, ginger fried beef and palace style shrimp. The spring rolls were hot, crispy, not oily and very good. The dry breaded ribs are by far the best. The breading is crisp, even the next day, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Ribs are also a nice size, not the giant monstrosities found at other restaurants in Alberta. Chicken chow mein has both pan fried noodles and bean sprouts which we enjoyed. The addition of soy sauce added the extra little bit of flavor that this dish needed. The ginger fried beef is the best version of this dish that I've had in a long long time. The balance of fresh ginger with the sweet sauce along with the perfectly fried beef make this dish outstanding. Lastly, the palace style shrimp included large shrimp lightly breaded and fried, tossed with mixed vegetables served with lightly sweet chili sauce. Portions are large and everything was hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. Both the ginger beef and shrimp were marked as "hot /spicy" but we barely...
Read moreWow! This family run business is unassuming when you walk in and order from a simple paper menu. But when the food comes out, prepare yourself to be impressed with the amazing quality! I had Wonton soup, which came loaded with vegetables and big yummy wontons in a clear tasty broth that was just right - not too salty (i think it was no msg? 👍👍👍) and a generous heaping portion of Singapore noodles that were hot, packed with flavour. The soup came first and i was able to enjoy it before my noodles came out.
The place was fairly busy and you could see every dish come out of the kitchen steaming hot and fresh like a home cooked meal, prepared with pride. Be prepared to wait a little while for your fresh cooked-just-for-you meal, well worth the wait!
It was truly a privilege to enjoy delicious Chinese/SE Asian cuisine in little old Bonnyville at Happy Valley, and charming to see the whole family run the business together. I can't wait to go back!
As i said, the dining room is simple/unassuming, but the food is AMAZING and...
Read moreIt was my first time here, since it was walking distance from Days Inn.
I had the beef bowl, which includes a slight satay-like sauce, with lettuce, cucumbers and slivered carrots on the bottom (and vermicelli in the middle). A sprinkling of chopped peanuts. It was great and perfectly-seasoned. Fresh, too.
They also add three spring rolls (chopped in half) on the top.
They also bring out a squeeze bottle of the sauce, in case you want more. Soya and Sriracha are also on the table.
It was a healthy portion for $18.95.
Note: They're not licensed for alcohol.
I've seen a few reviews where the atmosphere is mentioned. It's not the best, but the food makes you forget the industrial-like setting.
I would definitely eat here again.
They're open until 9 pm most nights, but they stop...
