HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR MEAL
We thoroughly enjoyed the Tarua dish, which features perfectly seasoned and deep-fried sliced potatoes and zucchini! The accompanying vegetable chutney was a wonderful topping that enhanced the flavours. In addition, the Yam Fries were so delicious and with just the right amount of spice that they are truly addictive! Also, the hand-rolled signature Momos are a โmust-tryโ, with multiple delicious options to choose from: We particularly enjoyed the Yak Momo - Jhol and Veg Momo - Tandoori.
SUPPORT LOCAL, TASTE AUTHENTIC YAK

ย ย ย Read moreThis only thing negative about this experience is that I can't give this place more than 5 stars.
My friend and I went there for a girls catch up dinner and decided to try something completely new for both of us. After we ordered many items as per recommended from our server, one of the owner who heard it was our first time trying Nepalese food, came by with a complimentary roasted soybean salad to get us started and told us about the backstory of her childhood and this specific salad. Our first bite at this restaurant was just mind blowing.
Then as recommended by our server, the Yak Momos arrived with a side of spicy chili sauce. It took us a moment to understand what had just happened to us, but we can only explain it by "we died and came back to life". I never thought I would feel this way about "dumplings"?...
Then our Mains arrived. I ordered the Butter Chicken and my friend ordered the Lamb Shank. After what we had tasted, I was a bit afraid I had underplayed my choice with the Butter Chicken. Was I ever wrong. It was the most tender (I could easily cut the chicken with my spoon), and flavourful Butter Chicken I've ever had. The naan bread was also probably the best, most authentic I've had, which makes me question my whole food experience before this place. The lamb was so tender, my friend pulled the bone out without any effort. The flavours of the meat alone were unexplainably, perfectly balanced. The yogurt sauce was fresh and zesty, the veggies were cooked to absolute perfection... We we barely able to talk; our brains were short-circuiting from the flavours we were tasting.
Although extremely filling, we couldn't stop there, so we ordered the rice pudding for dessert and it was such a beautiful twist on the typical puddings you can find: not thick, vanilla tasting or extremely sweet, and the toppings made it whole.
The service was THE BEST I've had in... ages. Our server ended up being a red seal chef on medical leave for an injury and it was his first day serving. We were completely in shock; he was a pro. Basically, the whole experience was one for the books.
This is my new favourite place. Definitely going there for my next date nights!... We were there to catch up and vent about our problems together, but we didn't even need to vent. This fixed all of our problems!! hahaha! I wholeheartedly...

With two little ones in tow and the promise of fireworks lighting up the sky, we set out for Cochrane to ring in the New Year in style. After the dazzling display, hunger struck, and we found ourselves drawn to a Nepalese gem recommended by the local Facebook group.
Securing a reservation was a breeze, and we arrived just in time to be greeted by the cozy ambiance of the homely restaurant. Our appetites stirred, we dove into an array of dumplings featuring yak, chicken, pork, and goat prepared in various styles. Fearing an onslaught of overpowering spice and excessive ginger, I was pleasantly surprised by the harmonious blend of flavors and the impeccable execution of each dish. The tenderness of the meats, coupled with the perfect accompaniments, left us all grinning from ear to ear.
Next up were the vegetable spring rolls, freshly made and delicately seasoned with just the right amount of soy. The roasted eggplant with smashed avocado stole the show, though the slightly spiced tomato sauce added an extra kick that delighted the taste buds. While the pork belly with hints of ginger and lemongrass was a hit, the potato salad didn't quite hit the mark for me, though the kids seemed to enjoy it just fine.
For mains, the leg of lamb stole the spotlight, ranking among the best I've tasted in any cuisine in calgary and surrounds. Paired with smooth, flavorful mash potatoes and winter vegetables, it was a symphony of taste and texture and the jus was epic! Meanwhile, the Atlantic cod with roasted potatoes and grains was a fresh delight, perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor.
As the meal drew to a close, we indulged in a sticky toffee pudding that was simply divine. The warm sweetness paired with a cool scoop of vanilla ice cream was the perfect ending to our culinary adventure.
Kudos to the husband-wife team behind this small restaurant in a quaint city. Their passion and dedication shone through in every dish, making it an experience worth traveling for. We'll definitely be back for more and highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. Well...
