Went in for a late night meal with my gf. Was gonna order the smashed guac but got advised of unripe avacados by our server Michelle. Ordered the Enchilada fries as our appy instead. They were good but seemed to be missing the House salsa, & way too much Lime Crema. For our mains ordered the Cabeza burger and the chicken torta. Did not get asked if we preferred crispy chicken or pulled chicken(she put it in as pulled). Seemed to be a struggle to get sufficient refills of water(water served in kids size plastic cups 80% ice) so I told the server to keep the water jug on our table. Once our mains came out, Michelle asked if I would like a refill of pepsi and I said sure. A couple mins later she rang it in for the bar tender who by this point was super busy talking to whom I do believe is one of the owners brother who was eating wings at the bar. The bar tender heard my refil print up but did not pour it. 15 minutes went by of talking to him and she finally decided to pour it, but failed to communicate to Michelle who seemed to forget all about the fact that I wanted a refil. After sitting on the bar for 7-10 additional minutes, Michelle finally saw it and decided to bring it to me. At this point I was completely done my meal so I just told her I didnt want it. No communication between the two, one right out in left field, the other too distracted with the owners brother. Very pitiful service At least the fries were good.
Side notes- the Cabeza burger was quite small, kinda dry and no seasoning. No where near enough queso sauce on it(like they did back in the summer).
I dont know what has changed about this place since summer 2021, but its level of food quality and customer service has gone down hill dramatically. Back in the summer I would go there weekly and enjoyed the food and service. In the absence of the manager, I even saw from time to time the Chef come out and address concerns with customers. The food was always quality! Now it barely deserves 3 stars. I only rated it 3 because...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give a zero I would, something has definitely changed about this restaurant and I strongly believe the kitchen staff are the problem because the few times I have placed an order for pickup the service staff are delightful. I used to order nachos from here quite often but the last 4 times have been deeply disappointing. I order my nachos with chicken, no jalapeƱos, peppers and onions and the last 4 times I have ordered (I had thought this would be a one time mistake and kept giving them a chance) the last 4 times I have ordered I did not get any meat on my nachos which I pay for each time (adding meat is almost $5) all 4 of these times no meat and since there are so little toppings because the things I take off, I was unable to eat them every one of those times because there was literally almost nothing on them. They put barely any cheese little to no beans, might aswell have been plain chips. Then the last time (4th time) I gave it one last go this was last night, again with the no meat WHEN I PAID FOR MEAT!! And this time they had also put jalapeƱos when I asked for none. Every one of these 4 times I have spent $30 that has gone to waste, thatās $120 wasted!!! And SkipTheDishes customer support was only able to give me a $10 refund never a full so $80 of my money just down the drain. I am very disappointed at the turn this restaurant has taken. I recommend anyone who wants to eat tacos, burritos, nachos, etc, GO ANYWHERE ELSE THAT IS NOT HERE unless you like being ripped off and wasting money. I will never be ordering from this place again and I suggest no one else does either. This is the worst restaurant I have ever encountered when it used to be one of my favourites. I hope this review helps someone not to make the same mistake. 0/10 if possible my rating would be in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile the service was friendly and the patio was nice, my issue is with the food. Personally, I find some of the menu items to be a tad strange for a Mexican restaurant, but as another reviewer mentioned, I guess it should be called āAlberta-Mex.ā Either way, Albertans deserve food with seasoningā¦
Here are my food reviews: Tortilla soup - something is off; the soup had an unpleasant mealy texture that usually happens from undercooked or refrigerated tomatoes. Flavour was so-so. Al Pastor tacos - while they say this is roasted pork, the kitchen is not serving it that way. There is zero doubt that this meat was sitting in ājuiceā and came out with the texture of stew meat; it was squishy and soggy. Flavour was pretty bland. Durango steak tacos - same complaint about the meat texture, it had been braised (whether intentionally or not) and the meat lacked even a hint of searing. The beans, peppers and onions lacked all seasonings. In fact, the only flavour on this one was the Valentina. We didnāt finish these. Margaritas and side dishes werenāt nearly as underwhelming as the mains and soup, but āmehā would be my descriptor.
If the restaurant reads this, Iād shore up on your kitchen practices. Season every ingredient, store your roast and seared meats properly after cooking and prior to serving (no one wants soggy meat!) Youāve got a decent base but the attention to details are...
