We absolutely loved this restaurant when we first discovered it. The very first time I went, I had the salmon — it was delicious, though the rice was a bit bland and dry. The staff fixed it right away by bringing extra veggies, which left a good impression. After visiting multiple times since, this quickly became our go-to spot.
Unfortunately, our most recent visit completely changed our view. We had made a reservation two hours in advance for a party of three and drove 45 minutes to get there. When we arrived, we were told they were running behind, which was no problem. We waited patiently at the front door until a waitress seated us at a table she had just cleared. Moments later, another server came over and told us that the table was meant for patio guests who had been waiting, and asked us to get up again. I explained that we had a reservation, but she just walked away and seated those guests elsewhere anyway — so the request for us to move felt unnecessary and, frankly, disrespectful.
To make matters worse, that same server ended up being our waitress. Throughout the night, she openly prioritized the other table, even making comments to reassure them they’d be served before us — which sadly proved true. We ended up being the very last table served, waiting nearly two hours, despite our reservation. Other staff noticed and even apologized to us, admitting they didn’t understand what was going on. The owner/chef greeted the other table personally and even sent them complimentary drinks, while our experience was completely neglected.
We spent $140 and had to ask another waitress just to get a fork or another glass. For what used to be one of our favorite places, this experience left us feeling dismissed, disrespected, and incredibly disappointed. While the food itself is still very good (8/10), the service on this last visit was unacceptable. Sadly, after this experience, we won’t be...
Read moreThis place was a bit over priced for what you get. There was no kids menu so we ordered "waffles" for 7$ which came out as one small waffle for my kids to share. I ordered the beer braised beef sandwich which was great and the meat was amazing and nice bread but it was served with huge fried potato chunks that were flavorless, should have ordered a salad. We ordered a large house salad to start which was just mixed greens with craisins, nuts and apples. No cheese or onion...and just a bottled balsamic dressing on the side. You would think they would have tossed it in a house made dressing. That was for sure a blow and over priced. My mom ordered the lobster Mac n' cheese and it was covered in loose dried bread crumbs which was too much. Should have broiled cheese on top for a nice touch. And it was very fishy tasting. Not the best. Her side was a Caesar salad which was probably the best part of the whole lunch. That was really nice and dressing tasted homemade with fresh garlic and anchovies (possibly?). Our waiter was really cute and super nice and accommodating to my two you g rowdy toddlers. Brought them paper coffee cups with lids for their drinks. There are no high chairs or menus for kids. We sat on the patio which was so nice! But the tables were too small to accommodate food and drinks and utensils and condiments. Overall not bad. Won't go...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a small and quaint restaurant called Antonia’s Bistro in Campbellford Ontario and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed by the experience.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly smile from the hostess, who showed me to my table. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and intimate, with soft lighting and tasteful decor.
The menu was filled with a variety of amazing options all of which sounded incredibly delicious.
Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable, with the waitstaff attentive to every detail and always making sure that I was comfortable and satisfied with my meal. The chef even came out to personally check on each table, which added a lovely touch to the overall experience.
To finish off the meal, I indulged in a decadent chocolate mousse, which was light and fluffy and left me feeling perfectly satisfied.
Overall, I would highly recommend Antonia’s Bistro to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a charming and intimate setting. The attention to detail, both in the food and service, made for a truly memorable...
