Probably our worst dining experience ever! Drove out to Campbellford after reading a Narcity review this morning. After taking in the local sites we decided to grab a bite for a late lunch. The exterior of Apollo’s would warrant you to expect some small town pub fare. We entered the restaurant and we met with excruciating heat! There was no air conditioning...the place was stifling! Against our better judgement we stayed because there wasn’t much else around in terms of dining. We stood around at the front and waited for someone to seat us, this took a few minutes even though there were several employees looking at us from the kitchen. Eventually a woman came up to us and told us we could sit anywhere. A blonde woman came and gave us menus, she was nice enough but completely disengaged from the fact that she worked in the service industry. Eventually we ordered the mozzarella sticks to start and I ordered the chicken souvlaki and my husband ordered the chicken wrap. The appetizer came out pretty quickly (I mean, they are frozen and deep fried so shouldn’t take long!) They were your basic pub style served with what seemed to be a jarred marinara sauce. It took quite awhile for the mains to come out, keep in mind the restaurant was stifling hot, humid and sticky! It was just not the type of environment to make for a nice meal. Finally the mains came out and my chicken souvlaki was completely burned and inedible! The server laughed it off making a joke of it and blamed the cook. She said she would order a few more pieces for me. So I was left with a plate of burned chicken souvlaki and was expected to eat around it until the new chicken would be ready. The salad had become warm and the rice was tasteless on the plate and by the time the chicken (3 little cubes to make up for my entire burned serving of chicken souvlaki) was brought out my husband has finished his meal. This again is not the ideal dining experience! Finally, we just had enough and wanted to leave and to our amazement the bill came and the charge for chicken souvlaki was still there! We couldn’t believe that a restaurant would send out inedible food and then continue to charge the patron for it! The customer service not only lacked at the Apollo restaurant but was a complete joke! Come on Apollo restaurant, if you are touting your restaurant as Greek then at least know how to make a chicken souvlaki! Needless to say we will advise all our family and friends (and anyone who has sense that is reading this review should too!)to avoid the Apollo restaurant in...
Read more#2 This is my second review on this restaurant and their food. My first review (2 years ago) can be seen below... Sadly, this experience wasn't as positive. I have ordered pizza from Apollo's for many years and it has almost always been perfect. I have dined in and eaten some amazing food. Tonight, due to not being able to eat in (because of Covid-19)we placed a take-out order. We ordered calamari, which was extremely disappointing. The product we received looked more like calamari nuggets... It was like they dumped the end of the frozen calamari bag into the fryer. I think there might have been 2 tiny rings, the rest were sad little chunks of deep fried 'something'...I once had Apollo's calamari out on their deck and I thought it was the best I'd ever had! Not the case this time. The souvlaki dinner I received, would have made any Greek descendant embarrassed. Not Greek rice and not Greek salad. The dressing was definitely not a proper Greek dressing. The rice was old and flavorless. The meat was just 'fine'... We also ordered a medium meat lover's pizza...this was good. So sad that this restaurant, one of our faves when visiting the cottage has gone down hill. Definitely not a priority for us anymore. Will have to find a new favorite cottage restaurant.
#1Great Greek pizza... just a little heavy on the onions and a little light on the feta cheese... but would definitely order again. So many delicious looking items on their menu. Can't wait to try them all! Cute, trendy little restaurant with...
Read moreVisited June 30, 2022. First time back up this way since all the COVID commotion. Our family would always stop here because the pizza was fantastic. I took a look at their website and noted the pick up special which is advertised as any 2 toppings, 2 pizza special. The 2 XL pizzas is advertised as $35 tax included. I call in my order and say I want the pick up special and place my order. Upon arrival I am charged over $50 for my order. I ask what is going on and am directed to the manager on duty. He informs me the business is under new ownership and the website has not been updated. He said the only accurate pricing is in their printed menu in-store. I found this totally unacceptable, a total bait and switch, false advertising. The woman working the cash told their manager they should honor the listed price, but he wouldn't listen. At this time I told him to keep the food and I'll never be returning. I actually forgot to write this review, but I stumbled across their website today (Oct 11, 2022) and they still have the same pickup deal listed. Greasy way to conduct...
