I went in and sat at the bar. The bartender had a conversation with the server, about her doctors appointment, while completely ignoring me. I ordered a Bloody Caesar and it came with two beans that didn’t reach the top of the glass. I ordered the special (seafood power bowl) to go. I was told that it had lettuce, spinach, quinoa, seafood, and avocados. Well … the seafood was all deep fried (not sure how this fits with a “power bowl”, and there isn’t any avocado or lettuce at all. The service is something you might expect in a very remote area, and the food … well, I’m not impressed at all. $15 for something that I was told would have the above but that’s not what I got. Concentrate more on your guests and less on your personal affairs and have knowledge of the food you’re serving. It might be a good idea!! The dollar value that I posted reflects the take out Power Bowl and two drinks while I waited for it. Not going back.

In Campbellford for a night and decided to try Capers Tap House. Ordered take out so we could enjoy the meal by the water. They have a good selection of items and are one of the few restaurants open on a Sunday. The staff are friendly and the chef came out to chat for a bit while our order was being packed up. We ordered: 1. Mussels in white wine sauce with garlic toast. It was too salty for me but was able to pair it with the side of mashed potatoes I had with my main course to combat the saltiness 2. Jerk Curry Chicken. Served with rice and peas, roasted veggies and naan bread. Really like the naan bread. The flavour of the jerk chicken is good. 3. Lamb shank served with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. The vegetables were delish especially the red beets which were sweet and not mushy. The lamb was a tad dry but super tasty. Overall a satisfying meal. If you’re in the area be sure to give them a try. 😄

I recently dined at Capers Taphouse in Campbellford, and I can't rave enough about my experience! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and warm, creating the perfect setting for a delightful meal. I had the pleasure of trying the curry jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, and vegetable dumplings. The flavors were vibrant and balanced, showcasing the culinary talent of Chef Dorsett Mitchell. It's evident that he pours his passion into every dish, making the dining experience truly exceptional. The staff at Capers were equally impressive. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of my visit was top-notch. Their excellent service made me feel valued and welcomed. If you're looking for a fantastic meal in a great atmosphere, I highly recommend Capers Taphouse. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu.

In the summer time my family and I visit Capers on a regular basis. We are usually always happy and we have never complained. Today was different. My husband and I wanted to treat my mom and our visiting niece (who's 12) to dinner at Capers. The service was horrible. Our waitress was hardly ever around and the place wasn't even busy. Our order was taken about 20 minutes after our drink order was taken, which was just pop. We all ordered appetizers with our meals. Half the appetizers of salad NEVER showed up. My husband's calamari was so dry and over cooked. My mom's escargot was good. I ordered wings in medium sauce. The wings were so hot my mouth was burning for over 30 minutes after one wing. My husband's turkey leg and ribs looked and tasted that it had been sitting around for the past two days. My mom had the prime rib dinner which was supposed to medium rare and it was well done, but it was tasty. After my salad never came nor my husband's salad and the wings I couldn't eat my husband had to wave over our waitress so she would finally come to us. Not once did she apologize or ask if there was something else I wanted, she just disappeared again and came back with our bill which was completely wrong. I asked her to fix it and she grabbed the bill out of my hands and rushed away... About 10 minutes later comes back with a new bill which she threw at me. This was a humiliating experience for myself and my husband after we talked Capers up to my mom. If I was to ever go back and the same waitress was serving me I'd walk out... She was so rude and ignorant to my whole table. My meal was given to us free, and we weren't charged for the salads we never received... But we still paid over $120, one meal was not edible, two were over cooked and the last was a kids mini pizza. This was such a terrible experience. I literally went home and made a peanut...

Last Saturday I was on FB "Ontario Day Trips Guide" and someone suggested Campbellford as a unique little town with markets and nice restaurants so off we went. Stumbled across THIS great pub! You all know I love my buttermilk chicken so it was an easy decision from their vast menu of items! It did not disappoint. Lovely breast meat, crispy coating ... soooo good! (As my mother would say, "that's too much food, dear, cut it in half and save the other half for tomorrow" ... I cut it in half and ate both pieces, like a pro!) and ate most of my parmesan fries and some of my husband's onion rings. I can't remember what he ate, I was too busy inhaling my lunch but I know he was content because he also cleaned his plate. When lunch is exceptional, you just know the desserts will not disappoint so I ordered a chocolate explosion cheesecake and before I could take a photo of it, the hubby knocked the big slice over and dug in ... so .. lesson here, followers, don't allow the "second sharing fork" and this won't happen to you. Anyways, it was very good too.

Service with a smile, helpful waitresses, interesting art work for sale on the walls, happy local guests, window seat was a bonus, lucked out with parking right out front ... an all over win-win situation.

Will definitely come back on a road trip, next time in the warmer weather with...

Came here because of the high rated reviews but terrible service kept us from even sitting down and eating a meal. When we arrived we asked for a table for our party. We were asked if we would be okay splitting up amongst a few tables which was totally fine with us…But that waiter never came back to actually seat us. We knew it was busy so we continued to wait. As we waited they continued to seat other guests.

A second (older) wajter came by 10 minutes later and told us that we had to leave because they were heavily booked with reservations and not sure if those patrons would like to be inside or outside and as such would need to keep all the tables open. At this point I expressed understanding about the reservations but was confused as to why they seated others before us when we were clearly there.

I’m not sure if they didn’t seat us because we are Asian and that waiter just didn’t want us around…Not sure if it’s not a race thing and they just didn’t want to seat us/split us up after all…Not sure if this is just a place that is unorganized…What I do know is they did not do a good job of taking care of us. Campbellford is a beautiful place to be and there are much better places for a meal. Will not be coming...
