First time coming here today and I had to write a review, I don't normally.
It's my husbands birthday so I offered to grab food, he wanted Chinese but I didn't want to drive to port hope. I noticed Hastings of all places had one with good reviews, so I had to try it out.
We ordered fried dumplings ( they were really good)
*Chicken fried rice ( really tasty)
*Sesame chicken ( not your normal gooey sugary dish. It was light and had ginger in it which made it fresh tasting. The ginger was super subtle but it made the dish. It wasn't super coated in sauce either. I'm a fan)
*Sweet and sour chicken balls ( the balls were good. A nice amount of meat to dough ratio. The sauce was good. Again, it wasn't the sugary gooey sauce you normally find. This was a tad thinner and perhaps a touch sour. I found it refreshing. It didn't taste like I was eating candy)
*Chicken soo guy ( hands down the best we've collectively ever had. We lived in Calgary, Toronto and the states. The chicken itself was nicely done but the sauce was amazing. The gravy was thick and delicious, we used almost all of it.)
Chicken lo Mein ( it was super tasty too)
Chicken wonton soup ( the wontons were good and so was the base broth.)
I 10/10 highly recommend this little gem. This is our go to Chinese place from now on . I can't wait to try more dishes. I'm going to bet their fish and chips are great too. The staff was super...
Read moreThis is a really hard review for me. My partner ordered the #1 combo. I ordered the kung Pao Chicken. It did not come with rice, so I added steamed rice. Upon getting home, I realized the Kung Pao had very little chicken. Much less than the #1 dish. The flavor was really great with a nice level of spice, but it was mostly onion and cabbage. Not much else. I called to ask if I could get more chicken and they said they could not hear me. Asked for my number but never called back. So I took a picture of my dish and walked back. They said they couldn’t help unless I brought it back. So I went home, got the dish and returned. The guy at the window couldn’t help and eventually the owner came to talk to me. She said this is the way they make it. And that’s the way it is. FYI, check any Google photo and this dish is mostly chicken. Here it was no more that 10% chicken. She offered to add a good amount of chicken for an additional $2, so I accept the offer to get this over with. Way too much effort on the customers part. In summary, be careful what you order. It is really good but may not be what you expect. Maybe best to stick to the...
