Very disappointed, one of the worst customer servers I have ever had.
Came to the cafe on the weekend, there was a family just right ahead of us in the lineup, after 1-2 minutes, since the family needed extra time to decide what they want, Staff A guided us to go first and we ordered/paid at the casher with Staff B.
After I placed my order, I waited for the pastries and drinks next to the counter for like 5 minutes, during that time, I heard Staff A patiently explained each pastries to the little girl, Staff A recommended the pistachio Croissant and the little girl took the recommendation (I heard the whole conversation clearly and the little girl did not consider to have the pistachio croissant before).
Staff A went to the casher and Staff B told Staff A that she already sold the last pistachio croissant to me. After standing next to the counter for 5 minutes, Staff A came and told me that they sold out the pistachio croissant : )
She told me to choose another pastry or refund the money back to me, I explained to her I placed the order first and there was one pistachio croissant left in the display. She insisted the family came before me and she exactly told me that the pistachio croissant was reserved (pretty sure the family decide to have the croissant after I placed the order and waited for 5 minutes next to the counter).
It is not about money and the croissant is not a must for me, she can tell me the truth and I am happy to let the little girl enjoy the last pistachio croissant. I do not think it is the proper way to treat a customer (the pastry is reserved???). It wasted my time drove all the way from Burnaby and paid for the street parking. I really hope she could understand that there was something more than "just refund back to you" and treat all the...
Read moreAmberdo Cafe is a true gem — and it’s all because of the beautiful service we received. I originally thought this would be a 3-star visit tbh (because of the pastries), but it instantly became 5 stars thanks to the kind lady working alone that day. She went above and beyond, even creating the cutest bear latte art on my mocha. Not only is she artistic, but she’s also warm, attentive, and open to constructive comments, which says a lot about her professionalism.
I can tell the cafe uses quality, high-end African-origin coffee beans — rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. I also tried the pistachio pie, which was flavorful but a bit dry, likely from being refrigerated without a covering; wrapping it in plastic could help preserve its texture.
Great coffee, exceptional service, and genuine care — that’s what makes Amberdo Cafe...
