We decided to try Karma Indian Bistro since the Michelin Guide added Karma to its list in 2023. Overall, we thought it was okay compared to some of the award-winning South Asian restaurants in the US. There were way too many items on the menu. If the Michelin Guide recommends a restaurant, I would expect the restaurant to have a smaller menu. By offering fewer dishes, chefs can focus on perfecting each recipe. It isn't easy to achieve this with an extensive menu. We got two appetizers: the chicken 65 and the onion bhaji. The chicken 65 was tangy and flavorful; however, it was not spicy. According to my husband, the chicken 65 is supposed to be spicy (his predilection for South Asian food is strong, and he is very knowledgeable when it comes to the cuisine). The onion bhaji was delicious! It was nice and crispy. The lamb karahi was okay. It had a slight kick to it, which was nice. The lamb was cooked well. The vegetable jalfrezi was also okay. The flavors were subtle; I was hoping the flavors would be bolder. My husband thought the mango lassi was decent. It looked pretty. I am giving Karma three stars. It is on the Michelin Guide’s list, and I'm rating this restaurant based on other restaurants I have been to that are on the Michelin Guide’s list. The food should be more than “okay.” The restaurant should have a smaller, curated menu showcasing its culinary expertise.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Karma Indian Bistro in Kits, and the service truly stood out. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, going out of their way to make sure we had a memorable evening. The ambiance was warm and inviting, although I did find it a little too dark at times. Most of the dishes we tried were enjoyable, the butter paneer was rich and delicious, but I felt a few fell short of the bold, rich flavours I typically expect from Indian cuisine. The Madras chicken and Goa fish curry, in particular, were quite mild and a bit bland for my taste. I was also a little disappointed with the pratha, which came out dry instead of soft and flaky. That said, the overall experience was still positive thanks to the welcoming service and atmosphere. With a little more attention to the flavour depth and texture of certain dishes, this could easily be one of the best Indian dining spots in the city.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at your Indian restaurant with my family, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. The combination of exquisite food, impeccable service, and a warm atmosphere left a lasting impression on me and my companions.

From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted by a friendly and attentive staff that made us feel genuinely welcome. The ambiance was inviting, creating the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the food. The menu was a tantalizing array of authentic Indian flavors, and every dish we ordered surpassed our expectations. The chefs clearly demonstrate a mastery of their craft, and each bite was a journey through the rich and diverse tapestry of Indian cuisine. The quality of ingredients and the perfect balance of spices showcased a commitment to excellence that sets your restaurant apart.

Our server, whose name unfortunately escapes me, was a true gem. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and she guided us through the selections with enthusiasm and expertise. It was evident that she took pride in their work, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was top-notch. Her attentive service added a personal touch to the evening, making us feel like valued guests.

We left your restaurant with satisfied appetites and grateful hearts, already planning our return. I can confidently say that we'll be regular patrons, eager to explore more of the culinary treasures your establishment has to offer. Furthermore, I will not hesitate to recommend your restaurant to friends and colleagues who appreciate not only exceptional food but also outstanding service.

Thank you for creating such a remarkable dining destination. Your commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has made us loyal fans, and we look forward to many more delightful meals at your establishment.

Went here for dine-out with friends. We had multiple things go wrong during our visit. Firstly, the food itself tasted very average. I have had better Indian food in other restaurants around Vancouver. The main issue we had was that they didn’t bring out our entrees with the included rice portion until we asked for it. When we asked for some rice, they wanted to add it to our bill until we reminded them that it was advertised as a part of the meal in the dine out menu. Then they agreed and brought out a smaller rice portion and told us they just don’t bring it automatically as most people don’t eat the rice… I understand preventing food waste, but it would have been nice to be asked since we were already paying for it and it was not nice that they attempted to charge us extra for it the first time around. Same thing happened with dessert too. The description said that the brownie comes with ice cream and none was provided. When we asked about it, they told us that they had run out and then offered to bring us some other substitute. We had ordered a second dessert of gulab jamin and again they only brought out a single piece. Every other indian restaurant brings you at least 2 pieces as part of the dessert. It was unfortunate that in all these situations, they didn’t bring us the food that we had paid for until we requested it be brought out and instead of accepting the error, they made excuses around it. Our service was not very great also. We had to flag somebody down for water refills each time. The vibe was nice.but the experience fell way short of the...

We visited Karma, a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant, with high expectations, hoping for an exceptional dining experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment. One of the biggest letdowns was the laccha paratha—it arrived undercooked and doughy on the inside, with none of the flaky crispiness that’s characteristic of a well-made paratha. It’s a basic staple in Indian cuisine, and getting it wrong at a place of this stature was surprising and frankly unacceptable.

We brought this up with our server at the end of the meal. While they did offer a polite apology and said, “Next time will be better,” it still felt like a standard response rather than a sincere attempt to address the issue. From a Michelin-starred restaurant like Karma, we expected more than just a promise of improvement—especially when such a fundamental dish was poorly executed.

To add to the disappointment, the curries themselves were decent but far from memorable. We've had far better Indian food at smaller, non-Michelin establishments where the flavors were more vibrant, balanced, and carefully prepared.

Overall, our experience at Karma felt like style over substance. The restaurant may have the accolades and ambiance, but when the basics aren’t done right and feedback is met with a generic apology, it’s hard to justify the hype. We won’t be returning, and we wouldn’t recommend it to others looking for authentic, well-executed...
